Good idea but poor execution

N555RF

My problem is that cup fails to recharge regularly. It seems connection between cup and saucer requires great precision to engage. A product like this needs to be pretty bulletproof or one is better off with the old fashion low tech mug. Mine being returned.

Can only connect to mug 50% of the time

rprosser26

To be clear if you’re going to charge $100 for a coffee mug that mfer better connect every time. Earthquake. Connect. Raining. Connect. Phone jacked. Connect. You get the idea. Not connecting half the time is solidly in the zone where you say why bother.

Connectivity

Really struggling to love this mug. The concept is great when it works however I shouldn’t have to “reboot” my mug. I can’t get it to work now even updated it and re paired it. Sad, but it has to go back.

Brutal Pairing

Laking48

This thing works like 10% of the time. The pairing is horrible making it basically a below average not “smart” mug.

Needs [a lot of] work

[Update]: I downgraded my previous review because, despite what I thought possible, the Bluetooth connectivity has become even worse than before The mug no longer recognizes when a second cup of coffee is poured. You have to turn off the mug, shut down the app, and restart both just to enjoy a *warm* second cup. Also, the Bluetooth connectivity is collectively getting worse on top of the issues stated below. As I said before, great mug, great idea, but it is more of a headache than a convenience after using it for a couple months. Especially when you get excited to drink warm coffee/tea after waiting for the mug to warm it up only to find that the heater was off the entire time. The mug needs a completely new Bluetooth chip in any future iteration in order to stay relevant in the marketplace. [Original Review]: I never thought I would use and love the ember as much as I do. However, like many others state, the connection to the app is abysmal. You honestly never know if it’ll connect automatically or not, and 30 min later you find out that the heater has been turned off the whole time. Reconnecting requires you to shut down the app or toggle Bluetooth off/on just to get it back to normal. Great mug, great idea, but the Bluetooth connection could end up being the Achilles heel for ember.

This is a joke? I can’t even login to the App!!!!

First time user and I can’t even create an account or login!!!!!! Horrible first experience. Horrible!!! I even deleted the app, downloaded again and paired the mug a second time. Just get a ‘unexpected error’ message. Disappointed.

The mug is great. The app is such junk that it’s infuriating.

From the app thinking your Bluetooth is off when it’s not, to not recognizing your password, to not letting you change your password, to the amount of times it says “Oops, an error has occurred” — by the time you finally get the darned thing working, it would have run out of charge and your coffee would be cold anyway. I’ve had it three months and I only get more annoyed with it. This was a birthday gift to me; I’m glad I didn’t spend my own money on it!
