Simple Bank is great. The app ironically became less simple. Recent versions of this app now require significantly more taps to accomplish all tasks. I wish the company was less stubborn and would just revert to what used to work so well. Update 5/5/2020: Ever since the move from the efficient tab bar to the tap heavy hamburger menu several months ago my usage of the app has gone down dramatically. Thank you Simple developers for helping me to save time by using this app less.

Not that they will ever admit they f@ck@d up, but it still freezes at launch, Spend from Notification action is still broken (maybe develop the app native so stuff works????), the ridiculous hamburger button still exists so you know they don’t care. Simple hates your thumbs and your sanity. Avoid. I love simple! Their budgeting tools are the best I’ve ever seen in a bank! Plus they offer just about everything your normal bank does! But the best part is how SIMPLE it really is to bank with them

unsurprisingly, simple is the most basic banking institution i have ever encountered. if you're considering using them run far and fast in the opposite direction. there are better options out there; save yourself the frustration and choose any other alternative. TLDR - HORRIBLE! DO NOT USE SIMPLE!!

Their good reviews are from before they were acquired by BBVA. - Don’t use as your main bank. You can’t access your money when you need it. They’ll tell you to do “cash advances” but their own parent company BBVA won’t do them for you. - Don’t use as your savings account. The company is run by children, you don’t want them to be holding large sums of money. They’re known for freezing/closing accounts without cause or warning. You don’t want that to happen when they have a bunch of your funds. Use them as an emergency card and don’t keep more than $100 in the account.

I started with Simple a long time ago and experienced issues with transferring funds from my external bank to them. Each time I reached out to them, they couldn’t explain where my funds had disappeared to. I stopped doing business with Simple because of the issue. Recently, I decided to give Simple another chance. I shouldn’t have wasted my time or energy. In the process of opening a new account, they needed my Social Security card to verify my identity. I submitted an image of the card multiple times and yet my new account is in Limbo. After speaking with customer service, they verified that a real person viewed my submitted documents, but due to a corner not present on my image, my identity isn’t verified. You give them the information they ask for and they play games with you, making you jump through hoops. Don’t trust these people with your money, they don’t deserve your business.

I love Simple. The only bank that I know of where I can create multiple goals and save. I can see where all my money is located without any hidden or known fees coming out. I loved the shared account that I share with my husband. It’s a great space and a bank that cares. Simple is always in communication with me and I love it. Oh the customer service is quick and on their feet. I love love love it all.

I love simple, I can’t even explain how useful this is for me. I don’t know why there’s so many one star reviews but here’s my take on it. There’s no other mobile banking app that allows you to essentially “hide” your funds towards your needs and wants. This app lets you make goals and set those funds to the goal so you have “hidden money”. It’ll still be there for you to use whenever but what you don’t see, you won’t spend. Which is great to help you reach those goals! I don’t use the expenses section, I think personally its useless and should be updated to something like the “goals” area. What I do is set my bills in the goals section and just fill it manually. Easier to see and do. For example if I have $200 in my simple account and make a “T-Mobile payment” I set aside my funds of $100 to pay my bill later. It’ll show $100 in my account to spend but it’s still actually $200 in my total. Hope that makes sense. Been using them for years now and I’ve been looking for alternatives just to try but there’s none out there! I’ve converted many people to start using it and they’ve been happy too. You just need to be able to see the benefits to the way things work on simple. Also! Savings has one of the highest interest rates. And everything is instant and easy to transfer . Only thing I always worry about is if it glitches and my money disappears for transfers. I recommend showing a transaction history for “transfers” for example , transferring from one goal to another will have a history so you can review what you’ve done or from emergency savings to protected goal can be another. I wish you could also create more separations for your savings account. Anyways thanks for the good work and hope you guys can update and make better changes! Rooting for you all!
