I used the product successfully for years but now they are end of life. There is no tech support. Any and all developers are working on some new cloud version of the software but that has been a bust. They can’t get it to work and fundamental functions are missing. For example, try getting your data out of the app in the form of a report. You will find that most of the data you enter cannot actually be printed anywhere. The reports are hard coded to just a few data fields. Why use neat to capture receipts for your expense reports if you cannot print the relevant fields??? They have lost all touch with their customer base. Sad.

The app right now crashes every time I open it, but prior to last week it at least let me scan. Search feature is extremely buggy—sometimes it works but doesn’t tell you enough information on the result screen. Capturing receipts is moderately straight forward and they do keep a recent list of folders for quick filing on the fly. Editing records is barbaric—this is pure data capture then you will have to use the website or the desktop app to categorize or edit details because the mobile app doesn’t have validation or autocomplete or anything to help the user quickly categorize. Overall this was built and is maintained by people who do not use the app themselves and the development feels outsourced. Just like when they ‘updated’ their desktop app to use cutting edge technology at the expense of 90% of the features in the original app being cut. This app helps you upload pictures but nothing else. Basically, purely incompetent product management.
Having trouble using with iPhone XR

I just got the iPhone XR and am having trouble with the mobile version of neat. The controls for Neat are directly under the standard swipe features of iPhone XR making it nearly impossible to us the app on this phone. Hoping there is an update coming soon to address thus situation.

I almost quit Neat Receipts entirely when they got rid of the legacy desktop program and the online version was a mess. Decided to give it another go this year and the online interface is greatly improved (still needs work, in particular, the ability to search a single folder instead of defaulting to your entire receipt collection) however this review is about the app. Interface here is greatly improved as well. I had difficulty when I first downloaded the update... if you run into this, delete the app and re-download. So far, the app is MUCH faster than its predecessor and looks promising. I will update this review after I do my taxes LOL Update: now I can’t even sign in without getting kicked to the welcome screen. Unusable :-(

I got this app in hopes that it would help with organizing my receipts, so far it is doing that. However this app crashes way too much. It needs an update to prevent it from crashing while taking pics of my receipts. There also needs to be a faster way to make expense reports. 4/10/2019 Now I’m having even more problems with this app. It keeps crashing and enters receipts wrong and I have to edit them. Honestly if I can find a better app I’m out of here, so please don’t make me search for something different, just fix the problems.
First 8 years were great-last 3 are awful

I hate to write bad reviews, but Neat continues to frustrate me since they forced me off my Mac-based software platform into their cloud-based one. So many features we're deprecated so this common platform could be forced out on us. I just survived the buggy, lethargic application processing all my receipts for tax season, learning that I have to close and reopen the app after processing every 20 or so receipts or the whole dang thing would freeze up. Each receipt took 4-5 times as long as I could process them on Mac-based app. When I tried to export to excel in CSV or Excel format to do my tax reports, the whole thing just locked up again. All I could do was use the built in sales tax report, but that only had a very small set of fields. Then I tried to use the mobile app to show a sales person a receipt, but the app just kept crashing whenever I tried to display the receipt. What an utter disappointment and embarrassment. Does Neat even test their app or web-based application at a scale people actually use it? It would appear that they do. I hope that Neat has some sort of update coming out soon that addresses some of these stability issues and starts reintroducing do some of the deprecated features.

Its really aggravating when the mobile app closes out after taking a photo. Use to love it but its become really unreliable. Definitely not work $100+ year.
Forced to stay with it

The desktop version worked so much better and was easier to use. The online version is missing almost every useful feature for bookkeeping. How did they not get this right? I only keep using it because I have files in it from years ago and still have a functioning scanner.
