Keep getting 'Optimizing Image'

The app has started giving me an 'Optimizing Image' message on the screen and will not let me see the document whether I've emailed a document or scanned it via my NeatConnect scanner. Only way now to view and edit documents is go in via Safari (I'm talking my iPad here). Even then I get the old 'Optimizing Image' screen, but at least thru Safari it does give me the option of viewing my document anyway. The app won't let me view anything I've recently scanned... just the documents from a few days ago, so I gather this is a recent problem. Customer Service has been no help whatsoever. It seems to me they are ignoring my request for help, even though I do get the auto response that a 'case' has been opened.

When working this a convenient app to have. There are plenty of server issues, a history of the app crashing in the middle of scanning docs, and really just a horrible set up across the board. I originally had the scanner which stopped functioning within a few months. A caveat, I travel a lot so I was probably a little hard on it. Frankly, this is marketed to people traveling a lot for business, and if they can't build it to withstand being in a backpack then it is really just a novelty item to trick people. From what I have seen there are much better apps out there. Don't buy their portable scanners. The app isn't worthless, but I don't have time to deal with all the bugs.

I have been a customer for 3 years, this product is getting worse by the month. I keep hoping that the next update will improve it and usually it just makes things worse. Highly unreliable. When you email a receipt to your Neat account, there is a chance in 3 that it will not be processed. If you email many receipts a day it completely defeats the purpose of using Neat since you have to keep track of every receipt you sent to make sure that it was processed. OCR is probably the worst of any software I have ever used. I have to correct every single receipt, not once (in thousands of receipts) has the software gotten it right. Finally I use it on multiple devices, and the it depending on which device I'm on I see different items in the folders... and yes, I have uninstalled it from all devices, and re-installed it, deleted the database etc, to no avail. If I could give it 0 stars I would... Trying to find an alternative system and a way to transfer all my data.

After using their software and hardware to store 6 years of documents they announced they were abandoning the software in favor of a subscription cloud-based based model. They will not allow you to retrieve the software should you need to reinstall it. I no longer have the originals documents since this became my repository. (The database is backed up, but without the software, it is useless.) This is an abusive business practice. In the new model your docs will be stored in the cloud and become their hostage. The NEAT Company can keep increasing fees and you will be forced to pay up.

The worst app on the market. It crashes, loses the scans, and on the rare occasion it works take forever to upload.

We are extremely disappointed in Neat's programming & complete abandonment of users who prefer keeping ownership of their financial information private by no longer supporting programming on laptops. Neats approach to forcing individuals to buy their cloud service & relinquishing our documents to their cloud, ultimately forcing us to expose our information in an unstable, unreliable cloud service that often does not work, is highly unethical. In addition, we are opening up our financial information to your customer service team who reside outside the US. After being forced to buy an upgrade recently, NOW they send an email saying the level of support we purchased is soon to be obsolete. We are being charged for customer service that often takes a hour to actually get through and is non-existent after average work hour ends and on weekends. We purchased Neat based on storing our documents on our laptop, not the cloud! That was the primary reason for investing our money and time. Now that option has been removed. The cloud was marketed as an "option" at the time of purchase and now that Option is mandatory taking us hostage with paying more money for substandard support. Yes, we can currently still utilize the home based program, but eventually it will no longer be compatible as upgrades are issued in Windows. Yes, you have offered a secondary way to save documents on laptops, but it is no longer in an organized, searchable approach. All the time and effort put into scanning in logical folders with specific details do not show up in the current "backup" offered by Neat.


Doesn't do what it promises

What a waste of time trying to use their app. Product fine as a scanner but you are unable to view anything you have saved using the app. They charge a fee to enable the app and having paid it doesn't work.


Won't engage my camera

I have been using the scan feature from my iPhone camera until all of a sudden with my latest upgrade to a new device that I need to permit access to my camera thru privacy settings. However there is no such option. Go to privacy and it shows you which apps have requested access. Not Neat! It's not there and no way to add it. I'm going to cancel my membership. This is the last in a long line of personal complaints and apologies for my getting images to people timely, or having to redo them over the quality. For how smooth and seamless the product is supposed to be, I've never saved time with it.


Worst customer support ever

I have been using this app along with Neat scanners for several years and my troubles began after my primary email address needed to be changed because of a simple job change. It was working fine until it came time for my annual renewal. This is where the troubles began. I could no longer access my account, and password reset request we're going to my invalid email. The simple ability to get support on the phone was horrible. It kept directing me to the web site, where it requires you to login to creat a case, which of course doesn't work anymore. All attempts to get automated assistance was redirecting me to a web site. All attempts to contact someone in support that could help where excruciatingly difficult. I finally did get someone, I was able to get help to get everything over to my new account and then after 30 days into my yearly subscription I am told by the app that my trial is over and I am locked out again. The customer support is horrible. Please look to other apps to get this service. I am utterly dissatisfied with this company. Why am I paying a company over $100 per year for a subscription on which I cannot get support for a simple issue. Look to another app for your needs. I cannot stress this enough.

They refuse to provide any support. Even if you pay for their premium support option. I think the company may be going under. What a shame.
