Sonos is an excellent system

Tall Warrior

I hate writing this one stare reviews. 10 years ago I gave Sonos 5 stars. Now they deserve zero. I have been a Sonos owner for about 10 years. The speakers and hardware for the system were excellent but have lost functionality with the latest updates, despite their selling point justifying the extremely high price that they were committed to all future “backwards” compatibility. In my system I have three Play 1s, three Play3s and a PlayBar. Sonos software design has always been poorly designed but I used to be able to play songs directly from my iPhone library but not anymore. The computer app also has lost functionality which is completely unacceptable. The speakers I invested over $2,500 in are no longer functional with the updated system. Sonos “offers” the old “S1” system software in the App store but in reality it only prompts you to upgrade to S2 without ever connecting you to your speakers. Sonos’s troubleshooting chat function is terribly clunky and poorly designed. It is absolutely unhelpful. You too will get screwed by Sonos.

Painting Studio

Sonos sounds great in my studio which is built like an old country home. Depending on what my painting project is I can easily go from country western to light rock to love songs to classical or other music of my choice. Music brings back memories and can touch our lives in so many ways! Thank you Sonos

Update, update, update

PaulKSC

Forces me to update hardware every time I turn it on. I want to play a song, but no update first.

Very soon after purchase, updates became a huge pain

metalchick9

Initially, we were very happy with our Playbar. Within a year, the updates to the app would consistently require us to resync the system with the app and 75% of the time it just wouldn’t sync. We followed the directions to a T. Right now, I have a $900 Playbar that doesn’t work because it refuses to sync with the app. I dread, and sometimes won’t update, updates because I know it’s going to be a huge pain and may or may not work. At this point, I’ll probably sell it and stick with a different brand with more reliability. It’s no good if it never works.

Worthless

This has got to be the most difficult and useless product I’ve ever purchased. I spent over three hours trying to get it to work. I will never get anything with the sonos name again.

Don’t update, 11/11/21

Cold and black

I updated today before thanksgiving. Now app doesn’t work!!!!????? Update 12/15/19 just spent 1 hour 40 mins on the phone with CS. I don’t have internet at my house can’t get it.... have to use phone hotspot. CS helped me work through several issues to get sonos app on my Mac book...my music library loaded and reconnect to all my speakers. 2-1s, 2-5s, subwoofer, sound bar. Asked about the ability to use system without being connected to internet like I could before!!!!!!! I understand that to now play the music I have to have Mac book connected to WiFi or Ethernet cable to get access to music but was told I wouldn’t have to be on the internet. Because to do that I need 2 phones one for internet hotspot and one to control sonos!!! Just hung up and tried CAN’T F****ING CONNECT TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could go back to Best Buy and return it!!!! Update anyone know of any class action lawsuits about all these issues. If so please share with the rest of us. Anybody else notice that they’re bad reviews are getting wiped away. And the good reviews seem like a computer generated them?

Used to love Sonos…

Johnny23x

I owned multiple generation of products and and is a mess… this is the end for me. Not gonna buy more product from a company that doesn’t stand by their product, why should throw out my perfectly functioning products? Future buyers beware of investing in ecosystem were you could end up with a limited version of what a great product was.

S2 is awful

TJGroove1

Having S1 and S2 components is a nightmare!!!! I would have stopped buying Sonos products years ago if I had known what a terrible thing that Sonos was planning.

S1

WTH I’ve been trying to set up our older Sonos devices for days now. Finally got it all updated and all the app does is make me add s2. Only to sayThe speakers are incompatible. Great so let me have an option to just keep them on s1. Help
