Forced update killed my play1

springwound

If I could give this app a zero I would. The forced update turned a perfectly good speaker into a brick. I tried all of their advice to get it to work but now I’m tired of wasting my time on it when it was fine before the update to S1. THANKS SONOS! ? Why can’t they just leave well enough alone!? I’m tired of planned obsolescence for all tech. I feel like they owe me my money back for breaking my system.

Recent update broke app

After the app was recently updated, it can no longer find my Sonos system. Trying to configure connection again with the app doesn’t work. PC and Android apps still work fine.

Need to upgrade - Does not support playing radio from songs in YouTube music

wordperson23

I kind of assume they are doing this on purpose to make you upgrade your older sonos pieces of hardware. With google play, you could always play the song's radio within sonos, but now with YouTube music, that functionality is gone from their S1 controller. I believe it does work with their S2 controller, so I can only deduce that they aren't adding this functionality to force us to throw away our perfectly functioning pieces of hardware and buy new ones from them, which is really frustrating! I mostly like what Sonos does, but they are really bad about making the experience crappy for those of us who invested in them early on, and frankly, I don't trust them not to do this again in several years. I buy stereo equipment to last for a long time, and it's frustrating and annoying that they want to make me swap out perfectly functioning pieces just to keep the same functionality that I've had for years! Argh!

Great

Just love having it in my home. Listen to all my podcasts while I cook

Glitchy

The app consistently crashes, even though all necessary functions are connected. Songs stop midway, albums skip through, and the sound cuts out haphazardly. Disappointing experience.

System is now junk

Rainier Guide

Have been a loyal Sonos owner for years, with multiple purchases, including their recent new speakers. This app now has made 10 speakers and the system inoperable. Can no longer connect to radio, Apple Music, or Audible. Don’t buy Sonos. Your investment may be gone and your system may not work next month.

Trouble Shooting Not Working

BJackson21!

Two of my new sonos speakers disconnected from my system. Reason? No idea... went through the app to try and get them connected... it said my speaker made its own network for me to connect. I connected to it, returned to the app and continued and was greeted with a “not connected” page telling me I’m not connected to the speakers WiFi which is false. I’m not sure why my speakers disconnected and I can’t get the new app because I have older speakers (which work PERFECTLY FINE) and have no reason to drop 2K to replace all of them to go with the new app...

Don’t update

Cold and black

I updated today before thanksgiving. Now app doesn’t work!!!!????? Update 12/15/19 just spent 1 hour 40 mins on the phone with CS. I don’t have internet at my house can’t get it.... have to use phone hotspot. CS helped me work through several issues to get sonos app on my Mac book...my music library loaded and reconnect to all my speakers. 2-1s, 2-5s, subwoofer, sound bar. Asked about the ability to use system without being connected to internet like I could before!!!!!!! I understand that to now play the music I have to have Mac book connected to WiFi or Ethernet cable to get access to music but was told I wouldn’t have to be on the internet. Because to do that I need 2 phones one for internet hotspot and one to control sonos!!! Just hung up and tried CAN’T F****ING CONNECT TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could go back to Best Buy and return it!!!!

Nothing but a Brick

J.D., Ph.D.

Old S1 system no longer works after several years. Just a brick.

Unreliable, nagging, battery eater

Dmccalldds

We get frequent drops in music streaming when using Sonos. It should work, and the last thing I want to do is go out and spend a bunch of money on more expensive S2 products. This is why it’s so grating to see the Sonos software constantly nag me to check and see if my devices are S2 compatible. Finally, if I’m picking my music from my iOS device, the battery drains rapidly. Just give me a Chromecastable solution to existing hardware.
