Great system, Good App, Decent Support

Simplisafe has proven to be a pretty fantastic purchase for us. All the bad reviews you see about base stations not communicating probably have something to do with environmental factors and/or old hardware. We just upgraded to the new Simplisafe hardware and all issues that we had are completely gone. We have a larger home so the old equipment would go in and out of sync sometimes, due to hardware limitations, and status changes in the app would take a while to push. With the new Simplisafe, which now has wifi capabilities, all actions taken in the app happen almost instantly, and all of the sensors are constantly connected on a multi-level 3500sq ft home. Our base station is on the main floor and we have sensor upstairs and in the basement, and all stay connected and are recognized by the base station the moment their status changes. I would only recommend the old Simplisafe to people in homes less than 2,000 sq ft, and you always have to take into account your environment. You may want to consult with a friendly tech guru when it comes to installing so that you have realistic expectations about your setup. I work in tech and understand the pitfalls of wireless communications. Sometimes your environment needs some tweaking in order to make things work properly. As for the software and new hardware, Simplisafe gets an A+ from me.


App no longer works

Starting Friday the 22nd I was no longer able to use the app to arm or disarm my system & I stopped getting text alerts. I have been very happy with SimpliSafe & the app until now. I am extremely frustrated that all of a sudden things started to fall apart. I don’t know if this an app problem or a SimpliSafe problem but I hope it gets fixed ASAP. I don’t want to have to get rid of this alarm system. If no comment go unnoticed as I have just read in a response to a previous review, please let me know if this problem will ever be fixed. I have called customer support twice, sent a email & posted a review here. I am beyond frustrated. Well here I am again with yet another problem. I logged into the app this evening, went to alert settings & noticed that my email needed to be verified. After doing this I am still not getting email notifications. I am so frustrated with this app & equipment problems I am ready to get rid of SimpliSafe. Please people fix these problems. I pay extra to have these notifications sent. I’m feeling really stupid at this point. What was I thinking?!!!

I pay $120 a year extra to use this feature. You’d think they’d reinvest that money times the number of customers they have paying for it, into developing a killer app! Since I’ve been paying it for over a year, and rarely use it anyway because it’s so buggy and featureless, I’ve decided to keep my $120 and canceled the mobile access. Doesn’t make sense to charge for something and then not improve it. $10/month extra for app access! Crazy!!

I bought this product some months ago and now there’s a new product. Well, they don’t allow you to upgrade to the new version. Also the app does not allow you to receive any notifications if someone is going to trigger or triggered an alarm


Getting worse...

I am experiencing the same issues others have mentioned; the app not properly displaying the alarm status, unable to arm/disarm my alarm via the app, etc. Through recent experience, I’ve come to the conclusion that most times my alarm is working properly but the app is not updating as it should. Because of the inconsistency between my keypad and the app, I’ve performed numerous resets on the system and sometimes my alarm has been unable to connect to dispatch for hours. When I first became a customer, the system was rock solid and the app seemed to interface with no problems whatsoever. Recently it seems that with every update to the app, the system seems to get more and more flawed. Simplisafe has sent me a new SIM card in the past, and it did seem to help for about a week or so, and then we were back to resetting every few days. Very unhappy with the reliability of the product(as of late)/lack of 24/7 tech support. Seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.

My app worked the first few weeks we got Simplisafe. Now, I cannot arm/disarm or even refresh. Simplisafe, simply can’t keep up with Apple’s updates. Better buy more keyfobs if you want to use them remotely and settle on them on day getting hacked. The safes way to arm/disarm was cellular and now that doesn’t work. Thanks Simplisafe and fix your app.


Slow improvements

This app has only gotten better over time. Seems more responsive, iPhone X update, push notifications and more have been added making this a lot more useful. The only thing I would love to see added is a Watch app and Today widget. It would be great to be able to enable and disable via those two options over going into the app. Other than that, keep up the improvements!

Very frustrating experience. At least I learn I am not alone. This app doesn't communicate with the server, pretty much never now.


Stop logging me out

Every app update logs me out. It’s annoying. Stop it. Also, provide some kind of API access (ifttt would be okay, but not ideal). I don’t need to be able to enable/disable the alarm with it. Just want to have instant updates on status changes (off/home/away/alarm triggered and ideally what part of the alarm was triggered).
