Best smart lock and app so far

I have used August and Kwikset deadbolts and have issues with them. Just installed the Schlage Encode. Had to modify the holes in my door as the encode is a bit bigger than my standard openings. Schlage should have made the lock with a flexible size like the deadbolt offset. Once installed, setup was fairly easy. Found that the best way to set up is with the Schlage Home app. I don’t have a Alexa enabled device but if I did I would also need to set up the lock in the Amazon Alexa app to have voice control. I don’t see that as something I would use. The Schlage Home app is all I really need. It is nice to be able to change settings and add users from my phone. I may replace the rest of my deadbolts with Schlage Encode over time. They are somewhat pricey but with WiFi built in no other devices are needed to connect.

If app upload name/number from your contact list and the name is more than 12 characters you will get message “Access code name must be less than 12 characters”. You can not modify/shorten upload name and when you go back prior screen using left arrow, the message repeats and you are locked on this screen

Everything works when I am at the property but when I’m gone, I lose the WiFi. The lock works with the codes but not remotely. It seems like this should be an easy fix if I could ever reach a person in customer service! I have waited countless minutes on hold listening to the same song! NOT how you want to spend your time at your vacation home or any place for that matter!

Easy to set up. Works perfectly with my new Encode lock. I really like it when things just work.

Look, 2 years ago I installed the whole system in my house and it was very reliable and working 99.9% of the time. I did install a new locker (same one) and WiFi adapter in my new condo and it’s almost unusable. The App is very sluggish, takes hours to find my lock and finally crashes and asks me to login every other day. The WiFi adapter is up to date, 14’ away from both the lock and the router and everything connected is working fine but the Schlage Home. Not to mention that sometimes it shows it’s open when it’s not or worse, showing it’s closed when it’s unlocked. Ok, if I close the App and reopen it, like 5 minutes later it finally gives an accurate status. What’s wrong with this App?
