Absolutely AWFUL

Samsonybologna

We just got off the Breakaway transatlantic cruise (April 2018) and we downloaded this app so my young teens could wander the ship but keep in contact with us via texting or calling. We read a lot of negative reviews but thought “it can’t be that bad”.....but OH MY GOSH IT REALLY IS THAT BAD!!!!!! Aside from seeing your account balance, the entertainment list was consistently missing events, or listed events that weren’t even happening. Sometimes you could get access to the app, other times you couldn’t. And the texting/calling?? AWFUL!!!!! If the app is closed and someone texts you, you’ll get a notification hours later. If you keep the app on, holding your phone IN YOUR HAND, you will get notification hours later. We tried everything to figure out the secret to getting this app to work with regard to communicating with each other, but nope - it was terrible. 4 of us downloaded it for $10 per phone....$40 for an absolute piece of crap app. I love cruising NCL so this isn’t about the cruise line itself, but about this app. If you want to stay in touch with loved ones on the ship, I promise you will have more success using carrier pigeons, smoke signals, Pony Express....ANYTHING would be more reliable than this app.

Useless App!

Nowhere does it mention that it cost a little under $10 to even use the app for anything other than finding out what your own name is and what your cabin number is for your cruise. It states that you can book excursions through the app but it only shows less than half of the excursions that are available for the entire cruise and it doesn’t even show all the excursions for each day. So unless you want to pay 10 bucks to text with your friends that you go on the cruise (for free as the description states), it’s useless. And I never found the part where it tells you what’s going on on the ship. I wouldn’t waste my time downloading this at all. It is a total waste of memory on your phone.

Odd occurrences

GeekGramma

We don’t pay to connect anymore, but we do use the app to keep up with monies spent. An odd thing...we disembarked two weeks ago and have gotten several notifications since that we are now disconnected from the ship. I deleted the app to try to stop the notifications. Another small issue. We are unable to change our cabin number on the countdown unless we delete and reinstall.

Such an opportunity missed

Where do I start with this? It's a handy app to have onboard, but it's poorly designed, probably built by the cheapest contractor NCL could find. Things that it really needs: - real ship maps - personal itinerary including dinner reservations and excursions Things that it could do better - just about everything Annoyances - forces you to remove the app once you disembark, otherwise you get constant "you've connected to the ship's internet" followed by the "you've disconnected from the ship's internet" - the communicator costs $$. This could be a big win for familys with kids, instead it feels like NCL is going to nickel and dime you. - no iPhone X version? This is an HTML wrapped app, should take two seconds to update. Come on NCL invest some resources into making this great. Hell, hire me and I'd make this amazing!

The worst!

Bought it for the messenger usage, doesn’t work unless you have the app open. Wish I had seen the other reviews. It was only good to check your balance.

Nice concept, terrible product

Don’t waste $10.00 per device for this app. The VOIP feature never works outside of the home port and the text works only if the receiver closes and opens the app, which defeats the purpose. EPIC failure, pun intended.

9.99 not worth .99

taken 9.99

Horrible service aboard the Epic, received messages 2 hrs later, phone was practically useless use the tv in your room or around the ship and the old fashion method and call room to room, no stars

Waste of money!!!!!

Total waste carrier pigeon would have been better

Ship info ok; costs $15 per user for messaging

CjMa364

The app is free and has info about the ship, dining, and excursions. The on-ship messaging costs $15 to activate (per user). Also, notifications do not work reliably - the app needs to be opened before messages are delivered. For a messaging app, I would expect immediate notification.

Useless

ewestmd

Useless app. Tells you your name and room number... like you need help with that info. Will list all the shows and restaurants but doesn’t tell you when they open/close. Also doesn’t tell you the dining or show reservations you already have. Apparently in order to find that info your supposed to tune your TV to Channel 22. Not sure how I was supposed to know that Ch. 22 was the magic button to getting all info pertaining to your reservations but when I asked how I was supposed to know that info, the man at the Guest Services said I could have come there and asked. Gee why didn’t I think of that?... stand in line at guest services again for the 5th time just to ask how I can access my reservations for the whole trip. Why doesn’t NCL give you a print out when you board? They pretty much know everything about you including your passport number, full name, birth date, everything they need to identity theft but they can’t tell me without standing in a line what I’ve booked months ago and already paid for? They can they just don’t care.
