Cheapest car service in NYC

The title says it all. Rarely have I ever had Via prices beaten out by Lyft or Uber, regardless of the time of day. Also handy for moving stuff if you get the large Mercedes van.

Navigation for drivers is terrible

RoadtrippingPatrickBateman

Drivers appear to be missing my pickups and drop offs all the time and it doesn’t appear to be their fault. The mapping system Via uses is far inferior to Google Maps or Waze and gives the drivers bad directions and doesn’t include reported road closures. The app is useful for commuters as the metro does not service all areas of DC but it is a miserable experience for the drivers. They need to ditch their proprietary mapping system and outsource it to google or a similar service.

No way to log in....

Via has been a long time used app of mine, but now it's really acting up. My payment method is being declined, so I can't ride, DESPITE buying a via pass. That's money down the drain. Every time I order a ride it says my payment method is not validated. I log out of my account and now I can't go back in Bc of "technical or connection issues," but my phone and WiFi work perfectly fine. I got shot a temp password, and same message comes up, or the card needs to be validated....AGAIN. VIA FIX THIS!!!!!MY MONEY IS BEING DRAINED WHILE IN A VERY BAD SITUATION RIGHT NOW!!!!

Erratic clock of your dispatcher

criticism on the app

I like the 2 options of quicker vs slower as well as distance from pick-up Most annoying is the erratic clock of your dispatchers...most of the time 4 minutes turns out to be 15 minutes. However as I just experienced, “4 minutes” became “2 minutes” in 30 seconds, and then “2 minutes” became “ride is here” in another 30 seconds!

Disappointed

I used Via a handful of times in DC before writing this review. Though reasonably priced, I wouldn’t recommend it for frequent use. Every single ride I tried to catch was canceled within a minute or two and wait times were always, *always* off. With more reliable options like Uber and Lyft around, this app shouldn’t be an immediate go to unless there are significant improvements.

Works for me!

I like how accurate it is with updates on where my car is. I also find the alert txts helpful!

DO NOT USE. THIS APP WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND THEN DENY IT.

The day after my friend referred me to Via I started seeing a bunch of random charges on my credit card despite the fact I had never taken a ride. When I alerted Via they researched the case and said that “someone must have gotten my credit card info and created a new account” and they refunded the charges. It seemed very fishy that someone would have stolen my card info that day and then only used it for a relatively obscure app so I did some investigating on my own. The friend who referred me mentioned that she had gotten a refund for her last few rides so we compared charges and it turns out that somehow the REFERRAL LINKED OUR ACCOUNTS VIA WAS CHARGING BOTH OF OUR CARDS FOR ALL RIDES THAT SHE TOOK. This app is stealing money and denying it, don’t trust them with your credit card information.

Excellent Driver

Picked up on time.

Declining. Charges Not Transparent

Joyous Joel

VIA used to be more reliable and cheaper. Now the driver doesn’t always show up so must request No Show refund. VIA site says fares based on several factors — but they don’t state what factors or related charge. Used to be one fare wherever and whenever in Manhattan. I preferred that cheap simplicity, but I understand their need to charge viable fare. I hate not knowing how VIA charges. Unfortunately, VIA has dropped from my go-to that I regularly recommended (no bonus requested) to friends and visitors. Now I use Lyft more often.

Via is high end high touch transport in Chicago

I’ve been a customer since Via’s entrance into Chicago and I’ve always been pleased with the drivers and service provided. I am a VIA fan.
