I've been banking with Simple for over a year and it has been phenomenal to say the least.


Best banking app, bank could be better

I love this app, but the service could be made "simple"er. Too many arbitrary steps for simple things like depositing checks.


Great App, Until You Need a Real Bank

Lots of great features in the app, but really falls short when you need a real bank. I had the misfortune of having my debit card number stolen and used for two $300 or so purchases. While it was great to get the push notifications of these transactions in real time, it was very difficult trying to get someone at Simple to assist me in resolving the matter. 2 months later I've still only received half of the stolen funds back. As much as I like the app I'm not going to risk losing more money.

If you are considering using this service be prepared to be annoyed. Don't make the same mistake I did. Like most banks honesty isn't their thing. When you transfer money to your account from a bank account, a reasonable amount of time would be 2 days max. I transferred money over the weekend, it's the end of the following week and I still don't have my money. Their customer service claims it takes 3 days to transfer... So starting on Monday the first business day after I transferred funds I would expect the 3rd day to be Wednesday. It's not. At Simple the 3rd day would be Thursday. 3 days to them is actually closer to 5 because they don't start counting until the day after, and then you will be lucky if you get your money by the end of the 4th day. I got this card to help me budget and plan, and to keep my banks debit card out of the hands of thieves (there's been a lot of compromised accounts lately) I should have just stuck to carrying cash. At least I would have my money when I asked for it.

At first I was a little anxious. Took forever to get my invite approved. Took forever for my first few deposit checks to post. But once my direct deposit started posting and I started using "Goals" to set aside money for bills, etc., it's been smooth sailing. For once I have an accurate picture of my finances to the penny. Apple pay with the "Simple" debit card has worked flawlessly. This is truly the future. The app is top notch in both design and performance. Just give it time for your first transactions to post, as extra time is required if your account is less than 30 days old. It's in the TOS. Easily 5 stars! Update: They've added a feature that many people were requesting. That's the ability to show you how far you've over spent on your Safe to Spend, i.e., borrowing from your Goals. You'll find it under the Goals tab. Great app is now better!

I could not be happier with the app AND the service. I just had to call them for help in a crisis (an ATM machine ran out of money in the middle of my transaction and left me with nothing but a charge on my account for $300!) I called them and the problem was solved in less than 10 minutes and the charge was removed! What bank will do that for you in less than 10 business days, let alone less than 10 minutes?! What a unique experience!! I love this bank. If you are unsure, take the leap. You will be so happy.

I was a Google Wallet/Card customer. I loved just about every aspect of it. About a month ago I received a notice they were ending their card service and suggested two alternatives. One being Simple and the other being AMEX Serve. I've had an AMEX card for years and loved the service but for some reason I decided to choose a try at Simple. The sign up process was a little annoying for already being a Google Wallet customer and transitioning to a service recommended by Google Wallet. But I went through the process and about two weeks later got my card. My wife also did the same a few days after me. However, she received an email a few days ago requesting her to upload additional documents to verify her belonging to the SS# she provided. Now understand we both had a Google Wallet card and used it daily. I did not have to provide any additional info. This was annoying and so I made a phone call as my email got no responses. I was told it was a random check and further info must be sent. My wife canceled her request. Also to transfer funds is a WHOLE OTHER STORY!!! Always takes over five days. The most recent request was made on April 25, 2016 to transfer out of my account into simple. The message came back funds would be transfered from my account on the 28th of April and be deposited to Simple on May 2. I wanted to be able to use the funds much sooner then that many days. My funds are stuck in limbo. Out of my bank account but not in Simple account to use. NOT HAPPY with my funds floating in cyber bank. I decided to try the second choice of AMEX Serve. Registration process took less then five minutes and was told my new Card would be forth coming in about 10 business days. My wife decided to do the same and was meant with same results. Guess where Simple is going! ?

The answer to my prayers! The goals feature is the best, and I love that the "available balance" ACTUALLY reflects the amount available AFTER scheduled bill payments and goals are deducted. One complaint, though: there is no easy way to deposit cash. I work for tips, so to get them into my account, I have to pay for a money order and deposit it like a check. Please work on a ATM deposit option!
