New update ruined the layout

Yeah, one can “force” the old (they call it legacy) layout. But then what’s the point. Was hoping that labeling, placing notes will be added to this. Instead, UI has taken many steps backward... Technology behind this app works very good but UI is a huge disappointment...

Not liking new design, but maybe I need to get more experience with it

I upgraded and there was such a change that me and my family had trouble navigating. What I realized is that it defaults to the simple remote tab that shows all activities for all rooms. You can select the room your in with the drop down menu, but we have a dedicated remote for the living room, and I would like it to remember the room. Maybe there is away and I haven’t figured it out

Outstanding and getting even better!

Simple Home is what all the big expensive systems try to deliver at a fraction of the price. I use almost every feature including multi-location and it just works. The integrated guide and dvr functionality with Tivo is fantastic and the new support for Apple HomeKit creates an easy to use experience. Lastly, the devs are always making this product better and update it to support new devices / technology.

Resolved billing issues now works well

Update: Got things set up and like the new navigation features. The interface is easier to use than prior versions. Room for improvement: They could improve the documentation as some features are tough to configure. Priior review: Old version stopped functioning last night and popped up a message to download this version. I did and subscribed to the 10 device trial. Hadn’t even had a chance to set it up when this morning I get confirmation that shows a subscription to the old/non-working version AND new version 5 subscription. So $18 for a product that doesn’t work + $20 for the new version. $38 in all and their policy states “no refunds”.

A monthly fee remote control.

Stunned by Ugly Design

Been using this since inception as Roomie. For the life of me I can’t understand this look. As a former recording engineer the volume control is pathetic. It should be a slider with decibel markings. Colors are ugly, dull and lack contrast. Would be nice if 3D buttons would be designed. Take a look at Pro Tools, Pioneer iContol AV5 or some good audio programs. I am lost at the start looking at this new interface. Will the old Simple System go away? Any way to change colors? Buttons are huge any way to change?

Disappointed

I have used this remote app sense it was Roomie, this version is not all bad, but enough that it looks like will stay with the old version as long as we can. First operational wise it works, the graphics are a different story I feel I’m back in the 90’s. The graphics are to large, and so far I have not found where I could adjust them. Next the color options are what I remember from the 80’s. Last I will need to change the programming to get it to work the way it did before this update, I am glad I can use the old and new version as I choose. The other big issue is my wife cannot figure it out, a big problem, although she does like that text can be displayed under the buttons. My hopes are that we see a new version soon that offers better graphics then version 4.5.8. The iPhone or iPad has excellent displays can’t we design a remote that uses that capability and also work well as SimpleControl does?

Not Fully Baked

It all starts with a poor experience where you must register an account then add an in-app subscription. One shouldn’t be required to register just to try an app. The fine print on the subscription page mentions a free trial, but it’s not until you actually get to the App Store purchase screen that it’s clear that the subscription includes a trial period. What’s worse is that the registration account isn’t even used to share the configuration between devices. I encountered an error message on the locations screen that isn’t covered in the online knowledge base. Support responded and sent me to a page that appears irrelevant. That page goes through Family Sharing options, but does not cover the same user with multiple iOS devices. I had to manually backup the configuration to iCloud on the first device then manually restore it on the second device. This should all happen automatically. The user experience of the app itself is far from intuitive and almost nothing works as one expects. To top it all off, the subscription model is too complicated and expense.

Registration problems

Downloaded app, registered with email and password but unable to logon. It says the email and password not the same registered.

V5 is a substantial step backward

I don’t have access to many controls (like power) that I did before. Please fix this. My house is broken now. How do I revert to the older version
