Believe the bad reviews

Noberholtz

I have been a user since the Roomie Remote days. I spent hours configuring it just the way I wanted it. I must have received an automatic update the other day and now it claims my “Legacy Design” is no longer supported. I am not impressed with the new interface - especially since it was just dumped on me and it is not backwards compatible. I will not renew my subscription.

Stands Alone

CA-Techie

This app is the Hotness. I have purchased many iOS devices specifically to run this app through the house using iPad Minis on side tables or wall mounted. It can be daunting how much time is spent building a whole home system that is broadly automated, but it's quite rewarding and this app is so much more straightforward than other systems.

Love it!

melli-belle

They added remote design editing in this new release! As with any automation system you gotta do your research and take the time to learn it. But, there is nothing like this DIY friendly home automation app out there with the guides and quick access smart home devices. It is feature rich and can control your whole home not just one room.

ATV YouTube & Custom Buttons

Aaron Marks

Give me the ability to control YouTube through ATV with gestures and the ability to create custom buttons on the new interface and I’d make this a 5 Star review. Love simple control.

Simple idea but buggy and frustrating

LASNYC

Idea: 5 stars Setup: 2 stars Customization: 2 stars Esthetics: 3 stars Customer support: 1 star I set this up for a client and grew several white hairs in the process. It takes longer than their free trial duration to get setup well in a more complex environment. I say complex, but very straight forward. Television AV Receiver SONOS Cable box Incredible it was the simple tasks that the app fails at the most. One of the activities would not want to change names. Also, an Apple TV kept asking for pairing over and over. I purchased 2 of the WiFi blasters and like them. Setting them up was straight forward. But what is the point of having a smart remote if it fails at the most basic tasks? I can’t even tell you if their customer support would know how to address these issues because the only interact via email or schedule a call for several days in the future. If you want immediate satisfaction, this is NOT for you! I’d recommend getting and Interset 422 Universal remote from Amazon. But if you like pain, and are very patient (and a bit lucky) you might get all your devices in there and working. Some free advice for Roomie: improve customer support (or make the trial a month at least) Add customization of the remotes. That legacy stuff is pure crap and looks like it too (They are working on this, I believe) Allow having two separate volume controls on the same pane. If someone uses a receiver, they need to control the receiver and the source (SONOS, for example). I am REALLY hoping this app improves, along with their support because there is nothing better out there. If there was, I would waste my time writing this review and would instead be using something else.

Don’t Believe the Bad Reviews

Chris MPLS

I really can’t understand the bad reviews on this app, most of which seem to be criticism toward the new interface or just negative because this is a subscription based app. I personally love the new interface and to call it “90’s” as one other reviewer put it is so far off base the review should be removed. The new interface is elegant and leaps and bounds better than the previous version. I’ve been a fan of this app since the Roomie days and am so happy to see that it’s still in active development. Everything for me just works and works well. If I had a criticism though, I would like to see the ability to add a device to the activity screen so I can easily pull up the remote for a certain device without having to dig for it in the device menu and the hit “test”. That part is not very intuitive. Also, the hub syncing functionality to sync settings between devices is super confusing, not intuitive and hopefully this can be improved in a future release. Aside from these nits, this app is amazing and has so many surprising features built in. Overall very impressed.

App is ok, support is horrible

Mr. Ceviche

Stay away! No support from these guys, arrogant and rude, will ban you from their forum anytime you write anything other than « your app is perfect » Lots of other home automation apps out there that treat you like a valued customer

Major Step Back

Pocius Family

I was a huge fan of the prior version. This new version is horrible. Stay a way from this.

Crash & Burn

Graywolf-mp3

Continually crashes while trying to add an activity = Worthless.

Intuitive
