Worst customer support

As for the product it’s OK. I like it although it’s a bit arcane and the documentation on provides basic setup. But the customer service is the worst. I really don’t know they even have it. All they tell you is it’s your problem...you fix it. Hey simple control, THAT’S NOT SUPPORT!


Has Potential, Until You Have a Question

This product has been around for a while. The developer has a little trouble making up his mind what to call it -- Roomie Remote, Simple Home, Simple Control... it's tough to understand that direction. On the surfact, it looks to be a great idea -- integrated IP remote of all your home components. Just don't expect any decent documentaiton on exactly HOW a particular device is integrated or WHAT you have to do to make it work. Don't bother with the user-to-user forum -- the developer "moderates" all negative discussion or questions to the recyle bin. Facebook? Stock photos and pitches that are over a year old and all requests for help deleted with "contact Support through the app" responses. And then, there's that: Contacting "support" through the app results in evasive non-answers and "your question is closed" responses when you actually ask how a device is supposed to work. If you can figure this out entirely on your own, you may like it. Just don't expect any reasonable/understandable answers from the developer, who appears to be spending most of his time deleting users comments on all available forums.


Making good product progressively worse

Started years ago with Roomie and was very happy with app and direction. Two years ago after redesign this turned to s@&$t. Beautiful GUI was changed to ugly Atari theme. Complex actions now require Hub. I don’t want yet another hub. Apple TV is now wasted as dedicated SC hub. It is impossible to lock the app running on ATV and I often find Hub disconnected. Using this less and less now, switching mostly to Alexa interface and voice control. All it took just an urge from devs to “improve” good product to loose a loyal ambassador. Shame


Worst support I've ever seen

Their support will talk down to you and does the bare minimum without ever trying to help. You'll literally go through 5 follow up messages because they won't read your initial issue. They self moderate any negative feedback or issues on their forums as well. So you can't get help there.

It takes a little work to customize, once you set it up it’s flawless. Runs on all my iPads and phones around the house and keeps track of status. When you turn something on or off, every phone or pad is updated and in sync.

App has been modified constantly over the years. Here is my final email to the company To whom it may concern: I have been trying to use your app for a number of years with only limited success. I have purchased faithfully various accessories in order to have the best possible outcome. I have all of them as a matter of fact. The fact that you have had revision after revision of your software is not my problem or my fault. And you are fully aware of the constant changes to your app, therefore requiring the endlessly long explanations in your faq’s. One example: First you have a hub, then there’s no longer a hub. Use the Apple 4k…use the iPad... Then there’s a dedicated device necessary. Through all these changes I have continued to pay for for a product that I’m simple unable to use. And I’m sure your email records will substantiate my history with your company. Having said that, It seems that your company would prefer not having me as a customer. Your last email made that perfectly clear. I will tell you that I have your emails and will post them to all my social media accounts of which I have considerable presence. I will not hesitate to express my extreme disappointment and discontent with not only the application but more importantly, the rude nature in which my concerns have been addressed by Simple Control customer service. In all honestly I can’t remember the last time I was treated with such disregard by any company that is supposed to be providing a service I am paying for. I will be happy to promptly cancel my subscription. I will never attempt to use this app again...


No instructions on how to renew annual subscription

I contacted them twice through the app as they require. No reply. I like the app but their customer service is non-existent. Apple stopped auto-renewals (shame on you Apple). How do I renew? No clue.


Setup

Works well when setup. Some videos demoing the setup would be extremely helpful esp. for the more complicated setups esp. switches and lighting.


A hundred bucks a year? No thanks!

Downloaded this because it said it supported Roku and apple watch. It can’t control Roku without a $100 per year subscription. Forget it.
