Pathetic app

KingA1

After updating app now I can’t use it as it’s keep on saying battery test failed when I try to find how much is battery percentage or miles charged. Before this update I can at least see that miles but now useless app after update

Abject failure

The EV connect program rarely works. Pathetic application that simply serves to anger the user and I will never buy anther Nissan

Pitiful!

I paid $300 to get my car updated with a new (transponder?) and reconnected through 3G instead of the older 2G compatibility, when the contract with AT&T was ended! This app is no better than the 2G app was and it rarely works! When it does it is extremely slow! And now I hear Nissan is about to one out with an updated app and they will be charging for it! I am amazed at Nissan’s lack of understanding as to how important these apps can be, especially for LEAF drivers who need to check on their charging situations often. I am certainly interested in looking at Tesla, if Nissan can’t get this app figured out! Come on Nissan! This is OUTRAGEOUS!

Nice new interface

App has the same functionality as before but the charge percentage is wrong; when fully charged my car is showing 150% charge. Also, lost the number of charge bars on the app. Would be nice to get other info within the app; like temperature of the interior and be able to set the climate control temp. I do love the fact I can start climate control remotely; especially on these winter days when the temperature is in the single digits.

All new look - some of the issues fixed

First warning - the new app discards the login credentials you may have saved with the old one - so be prepared to re-enter them when upgrading! We’ll never know what major release 5 looked like - we went straight from version 4-point-something to version 6, and hours later it’s replaced by 6.04. The interface looks all-new as advertised, and the startup delay _seems_ shorter. Any UI activity which entails communication with their servers and/or your vehicle puts a (mercifully brief) blue animated overlay over the interface. As noted by countless other reviewers, it seems the lengthy delay to refresh vehicle status is baked in to the infrastructure, even with the “new” 3G cellular modem behind the dash of my LEAF. Minor annoyances with the app: Notwithstanding the “save” function, the notification settings UI (email/push/text) refuses to permit changes. (I guess the web portal is the only way to update that.) If I set the climate control timer via its widget, it gets set correctly, but ALWAYS logs me off immediately. Petty gripe - the info tip for one of the settings, battery heater, is stuck on French. On the plus side, there are now separate buttons for starting AND stopping climate control - improved from the version 4 app single button which would get out of sync with the present state. All in all, I’m grateful that Nissan seems to have a new effort going on this app so long neglected.

Fix the service not the app

dkshaw

The new app design is fine. But I'm more worried about the actual Services behind the app. Half the time I cannot even connect to the service and get a status of the car so I have to go out and do it manually. Plus, it takes forever to update the status! If I want to quickly preheat the car, I have to wait 30-60 seconds for it to connect and verify that it's working before I am sure that it'll work. I recently had to spend $300 to upgrade the SIM device so that I can get updates on the car status. But what is the use if it only works half the time. The Nissan Leaf is futuristic and great in so many ways, but the technology behind it is absolutely awful.

New design looks nice...but still terrible

The newly designed app looks better then previous but still doesn’t work. I have two leafs and I’m lucky if even one will load into the app correctly and that takes forever. On top of that I couldn’t even sign into the app for weeks even though I was using correct log in info. After the “update” it finally lets me sign in again. Just awful! This app makes me not want to buy the new 2018 leaf and my wife and I had been considering it. I want an electric car that has an app that works to control the car remotely and check on different statuses.

Apple Watch App is Great!

ADobkin

Nice job on the app overhaul in January 2018. I really appreciate the new Apple Watch functionality to check status, turn climate control on and off, control charging, and locate my vehicle. Obviously it would be nice if the communication to the vehicle were a bit faster and didn't require manual refreshes, but I understand these are technology or infrastructure limitations that can't be solved by the app. Thanks!

App or blessing?

Best app in the App Store — works perfectly. Even if you don’t have a Nissan Leaf, it’s installation on your device will make you want to be a better person.

Nice app, poor backend

The app itself looks very nice now… A much needed upgrade from the old user interface. However, it is still quite painful to use thanks to the unbearably slow services it must interact with. Nissan, could you please try to find a way to get the round-trip car commands and updates updates to complete in under 30-40 seconds?
