Useless, waste of space app

FUHNAHTIK

I have to download an app, that literally makes me scan a code before allowing me to unlock the movie on a preferred platform (I use Vudu, it gives you options for iTunes etc). Useless. Also, the scan took about five tries because of lighting and angles. Such a hassle and a waste of space on my device. I will be deleting this app now.

Unnecessary app!

Lionsgate, just give me a code to use on Movies Anywhere or Vudu. Having to download an app to serve as a middleman is nonsense.

Useless app

Just makes it harder to redeem my digital copy of a movie

Horrible!

TouchdownTerry

I bought this to redeem digital. It does NOT give iTunes as an option. Will NEVER buy another Lionsgate film. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Why?

Colyn P

This is such a shady practice. Forcing people to download an app, agree to an EULA and privacy policy that no one reads, and making them submit an email just to allow them to use a digital code on other platforms. What a load of crap.

Lionsgate Needs to Change

Slugthing

With the introduction of Movies Anywhere, adding my physical copies of my movies to a digital library has become so easy. Unfortunately, Lionsgate has refused to use the service, forcing me to download this stupid app to get a single version of the digital release. The great thing about Movies Anywhere is the ability to share a library across multiple services, so I don’t need to think about where I bought a movie to find it. Lionsgate needs to adopt this service, as it would be better for the customers, and make me less hesitant to purchase any of their movies.

Terrible experience

Theaterman4177

The John Wick Blu-ray said it came with a digital copy. It should have said, “you can get a digital copy if you download an app that you don’t want that will provide lionsgate with loads of unnecessary highly personal data like your location and then crash before it is finished.” Whoever conceived of this digital redemption process at lionsgate clearly knows nothing about their target audience. Keanu reeves is way too cool to have his reputation associated with a scheme like this.

Trash

Do not use this app if it’s the last thing you do, it’s pointless and just annoyingly required to have access to a movie you already bought. I would rather put a toothpick under my big toe and kick and door then ever download this app again. I urge Apple to remove it from the store as soon as possible and urge Lionsgate to stop being money hungry and just do what everyone else does and promote through Vudu you useless examples of human beings. Thank you

Unacceptable App - Data Extortion - Misleading Packaging

JDesignerView

This app required by Lions Gate just to be able to access the digital copy movies that all of us have already purchased with a Blu-Ray disk is completely unacceptable. This is pure data grab extortion to monetize our private information (READ THE PRIVACY POLICY BEFORE USING THIS APP). This practice should be illegal when the product has already been purchased. Very deceptive - the requirements of using this app are not stated on the blu-Ray combo packaging. No other film studio to my knowledge requires the use of a proprietary data grab app or platform to be able to claim the digital copy movie you’ve already purchased. Furthermore, many Lions Gate films can be redeemed directly on the “movieredeem.com” website without the use of the VIP app. And very notably, even on the insert for the movies that direct you to the VIP app, it states clearly that you can alternatively redeem your digital copy via the movieredeem.com website by entering the code under the QR code - THIS IS FALSE - it does not work and again tells you to download the app. UNACCEPTABLE. I will not buy any more Lions Gate combo disks or digital copy movies until Lions Gate abandons this app and practice and rejoins the rest of the industry in using one of the common platforms that doesn’t force us to submit to a proprietary data grabbing tool to be able to access what we’ve already purchased. And I’d encourage others to do the same. Yes, there are of course privacy policies and considerations with the common platforms for digital media as well (Movies Anywhere, etc), but they do not force an installation of a data mining app on your devise to be able to use your purchased content. Lions Gate, respectfully, please keep making good movies and earn our money that way, not by mining our data! Thank you.

Completely ridiculous

LongClawTiger

Every other movie studio gives me a code I can use on any digital device to redeem my movie, but Lionsgate thought it would be funny to force me to download an app on the device where I have the least amount of storage and give it access to all kinds of personal data just to scan one QR box! No warning about this either until after they already have your money from the blu-ray sale. AWFUL tactic on their part. This has been a horrible sales experience and I highly encourage all other users to skip their movies and support studios know what real customer service is.
