UPDATE: Having to regularly reinstall the app in order to see backed up files is getting highly annoying. Good service but app buggy. Have to uninstall every few months because it loses access to files and can’t see any backups or try downloading file and it’s corrupted. Reinstall fixes issue. Gets annoying.

It doesn’t actually back anything up. I paid for 1 year through a promo and not once has it ever finished a backup of my photos. I’ve tried setting the lock screen to never lock and leaving it over night many times, and it still never finishes. You can’t tell if it’s actually backing up anything. When I try to manually back up photos it says there are only 23 then it finishes. That’s not accurate. So I try again and it tells me there are 4 photos this time. Every time I select photos and press backup it shows a different number. Since this is my first backup it should show hundreds. Background backup doesn’t actually work. It’s been installed for a few weeks yet my photos have not finished backing up. Every time I open the app it starts to count up, showing how many items are left. Leaving the app open doesn’t finish backing up either.
Is this some kind of joke?

I am not making this up. To sync or backup, this must be THE foreground app, with display on, taking full control of your device. Use your device for any other purpose and iDrive quits working. It posts a dialog to remind you of your foolishness. Did I not pay enough for the actual app? I don’t see ‘Lite’ anywhere.
Permissions problem makes app unusable for new user device

I just signed up for this service, based on positive reviews in comparison to other cloud services. But when I opened the app and tried to sync, it told me I had to give permission to access photos. This is, of course, completely reasonable and a requirement on the part of Apple. However, when I push the Continue button too be taken to Settings, it brings me to the settings for the app, not Settings/Privacy/Photos, where it had told me to go. When I go to that part of the Settings menu, there is no request from I drive to approve, rendering this app totally useless for backing up anything directly from my phone. Additionally, when I try to "Report Problem" in the IDrive menu, a message interface pops up for half a second before disappearing, forcing me to leave a one-star review in the hopes of reaching somebody at the company. Neither of these would require a major fix, so it's concerning to me that these basic functions of the app are non-functional.

Defaults into lower quality photos but stumbles with larger photos. Does not support .heic formats for file viewing. Backups are not organized by date of photo. Today it showed that I had backed up from the phone but the IDrive app would not show photos. There are somethings I like to use IDrive to do but I’ll be moving on unless these limits are addressed.
Great at backing up Slowest restore ever

I think it is great at what it does. You’ll need a couple of days to restore if ever needed. I have Fios 50MBS up and down . A 1.4 G movie takes 3-5 minutes to download. My one and only restore to my phone required me to keep the app open and would down load one picture every 8-15 second. They might need more mirror site closer to their consumers. I welcome their feed back but I’m still restoring my phone.
Terrible for IPad - Full of Bugs

Doesn’t display all backed up photos. Crashes when looking at backed-up photo screen. Tells me that it has backed up over two thousand photos more than exist on my iPad. Unendingly says “Searching for duplicates” when I try to download some photos. Deleting and reloading the app doesn’t help.
Solid but App needs work

The company and plan is amazing. I’m enjoying the backup and it’s a solid peace of mind. The app is the issue, I feel it’s not backing up when I’m changing location and I feel it’s not backing up completely. Yesterday it needed to upload 43 photos and videos today is 53. And I only took two photos. Or when I’m doing a manual upload it will upload all of it then an hour later it has to upload 20 or so. Seems to be uploading incompletely.
