shows coupon discount during checkout but charged full amount

The app showed me a coupon discount during checkout but then charged me the full amount without applying the coupon. Really fraud. I would not have booked that room without the coupon discount. Customer service would not help me, just said that the coupon was not valid. Would not give me the price they advertised during checkout. I do not recommend using this app to book a hotel because a different amount may be shown during checkout than what is actually charged.
Hotwire has lost their way

I used to use Hotwire and recommend it to everyone. I have used it for more than 5 years. Lately they limit the reviews that you see to “2”. Some of those reviews can be quite misleading. You use to read 20 or more reviews and you could get a sense of the place. In my recent trip I booked 5 hotels with Hotwire. 3 were fine - as advertised. Two were complete misses. I couldn’t even stay at the hotels - they felt unsafe. The reviews for my most recent miss were 1) Good! 2) Great Location. Both reviews were so wrong. There was a Sheriff parked in the lot all night. I asked him and he says the place is active at night. Good grief! We left of course. Lost our money! Limiting reviews hurts Hotwire Clients from making good choices. I think Hotwire is more interested these days in protecting the hotels than they are their app users.

Three times in a row I booked a rental car just to show up and they don’t have my car . Absolutely devastating just leaves you stuck absolutely unreal. This don’t happen when you book through the rental company website. So why should I use Hotwire ? The answer is you shouldn’t!
App doesn’t work on iPhone 13

I recently updated my phone to an iPhone 13, and my Hotwire app doesn’t work. I have to log in via a computer, which doesn’t work when your traveling. I don’t see an update in the app, so I am wondering if there are any other people with issues. I’d rather use Hotwire than another company when traveling. Please help!
Hidden fees

I’ve used this app for years and you used to get amazing deals on it. Now every hotel has these hidden fees for parking and amenities weather you use them or not. The reality is after those fees usually 25-30% of the hotel rate you end up paying the same if not more than you could have gotten the same room direct or another site. Shame on you Hotwire for embedding fees in the fine print .
App keeps crashing

Downloaded the app. Tried to search for cars three times and each time after entering all of the details, the app crashed. I can’t evaluate the actual features because I can’t get the app to work. I went back to the Orbitz app instead.

Hotwire sent me an email about an airline credit. The email said to look under “credits and coupons” to check my balance. Good luck finding that! It’s a screwy app. Not very user friendly. Which is why I usually give up and go back to Priceline.

When traveling, I always check Hotwire for their hot deals on hotels. My husband and I have stayed at some of the most posh hotels for a fraction of the normal price! Definitely recommend getting the app also!
