Thor has wasted his precious time on this dishonorable trickery!

Iconoclasticjarhead

I was in dire need of a thermal app to locate the true tesseract in a sea of hallucinations, and I opened the app only to find that I must possess a thermal camera to use it! I pity the creator if this lying disgrace, for he will surely be struck down by my mighty hammer on the fateful day we cross paths! The “description” of this abomination clearly states that it will transform your device into a thermal device, and nowhere does it warn that you must first purchase a separate device before this gains ANY purpose! Do not be fooled, mortals. For this trickery will cause you (and possibly your porcelain coin swine) quite the despair.

Does not work with the updated app

flir one

I have the flir one for iOS, it worked fine on all my iPhones, but not with the updates , it won’t show the picture any more, this needs to be fixed. Paid $250 for the flir one and now the the new flir one came out, this one doesn’t work anymore, Funny!

FLIR One Pro

I purchased the FLIR One Pro for use in my beekeeping to allow a vision of the honey bees inside the hive boxes. I also use it for assisting in Trapping Out (removal) and Cut Out (also removal) to more accurately identify the location of the bees and prevent cutting into electrics wires or pipes. I found the installation to be easy with ease of using the application.

Forces you to buy new products

This is very disturbing. I paid $270 for a camera that was really good and all the sudden is worse than useless after an app update. This was my go to product for water leaks and after using it today it looks like a kids toy. When they release a newer version they intentionally ruin older products. Steer clear

Honeymoon's over! Fix your app!

Johnny Dont

Response to developer’s response: what good does it do me that registration is “no longer required”? You already made me register. Fix your bugs. _______ Ok, another update for “bug fixes”. Every time I see that I think, “Good, they fired those other incompetents and hired a real programmer” but nope, all the same bugs (and I mean obvious stuff for anyone who actually uses the app) are still there. What bugs are they “fixing”?! Maybe there’s a bug that’s letting people use the hardware they bought without “registering”. Or maybe some of our personal information is accidentally not getting captured. This is impressive, if maybe overpriced, hardware being hobbled, I believe purposely, by a pathetic app. Get it together, FLIR. Fire the interns and hire a programmer worthy of your fading name. Get yourself an iPad or iPhone and actually try to use the thing for an hour. Then, all the things you said, “Well, that’s annoying,” or “Huh, well that doesn’t work!” just fix. See? Easy-peasy. Here’s a funny one though. I got an e-mail from FLIR a couple days ago that said “We want your thoughts!” No you don’t. You’ve shown that. _______________ Update: I'm now on the version 3 FlirOne. The hardware... well, still amazing but a little disappointing. My visible camera is a couple angular degrees off of the IR so there’s no way to align the images. It would be a trivial thing to do in software to allow full capability to align the cameras, but given FLIR's inability to even get the basics right I have little confidence they can pull that off. Which brings me to this app. This app is so bad I don’t know where to start. It is an embarrassment to the flagship company of thermal imaging. When I got the camera I got an email from some company rep saying hey I'm here for you, let me know if I can help. That was encouraging. So I replied, your app has a lot of bugs, let me know if you’re already on it or need some more info. Really, I was that polite. Think I got a response? No. So today here’s an update, none of the problems fixed. Did they test it at all? Do they even own an iPhone or iPad? Shame on you, FLIR. I can't believe you still insist on putting your watermark on images taken from such a bad app. Still, my offer remains, if you can’t see the bugs in your app I'm willing to help you out. After reading other recent reviews I see I'm not alone; this app is an afterthought. I won’t wait up for your call. OH YEAH! I forgot to mention the obnoxious requirement to create an account and log in to use the app. That’s the last straw, FLIR. Down to one star. What were you thinking? Were Customer Relations and Marketing both on vacation on the same day? —————————- Maybe I’m just really easy to please, but this thing is AMAZING!!! For those that are complaining “it’s hard to see this or that” this is SUB-$500 thermal imaging, people. You won’t find another thermal camera for less than $1,000 anywhere, period. The entry point for this market, aside from this fabulous toy, is over $1,500 (see Optics Planet). The unit is solid, although, yes, it is a little inconvenient to have to pull the phone out of the imager to charge it, but I imagine most of my phone’s life will be spent outside of it anyway. But- this review is about the app, right? Apparently pressing “Help” causes the app to crash. I verified this after I read it in other reviews, but until then I didn’t have any reason to press “Help”. What do you need help on? It explains everything as you go. So, ok- they should fix that. Other than that the app is solid and looks polished. If I had to make any suggestions I wish I could turn off the visual camera so I can just see the thermal image without the visual noise. I’d also like “white-hot” and “black-hot” palates.

Don't update to iOS 11 or update this app! [UPDATED]

SuperMacGuy

UPDATE: Found my unit's battery was totally dead and I finally got it to work after being plugged in while I pressed the reset button multiple times, and tried to calibrate. I was able to get an image and check the firmware. The battery monitor (a nice addition to v3 of the app) says 1%. I come to read that these units have non-replaceable batteries and I might be SOL because of this poor hardware design. Increased my review to 3 stars. FLIR thank you for responding. OLD REVIEW: If you have a FLIR that works, DO NOT update to iOS 11 and do not update to this app version. Both my iPhone 5s and SE no longer work with my FLIR camera (the original 5s with clamshell case).

Room to improve

Bullet In A Sandstorm

I really like the camera. Of course, it's nothing without the app. Problem is that the app keeps freezing. Have to unplug the camera and restart. Hope it gets better.

Nice companion app to FLIR device

Seems most of the previous bugs from last year are resolved. There isn't a tool at this price that is as effective as this one for thermal imaging. Connectivity? Try connecting directly to the phone without a crappy dock extender. Until Apple makes a Lightning port extension cable we're stuck trying out one brand-X cheap plug after another. I'd also like a manual range setting option. And a color=temp key on the display. But good work otherwise.
