Because we were new to the area, we had no idea where to start looking for a handyman. One person told us of their great experience with Home Advisor in Pasadena, CA and another in Palm Springs, CA. So we tried it in Colorado Springs, CO. We got the greatest handyman. We feel lucky and will use Home Advisor for everything we need to do on the house.

Definitely pest issues and divorce issues

Tanya's hearfelt gratitude

Definitely pest issues and divorce issues. Any idea how to get rid of small black ?, big carpenter ants ?, big red ants, unwanted snakes ?, bugs, dead mice ?, thugs, mopes, stalkers, intruders and dirty thugs with badges using retaliatory tactics in an attempt to threaten me which all appear to correspond to my divorce, custody and appeals process timeline of one sided and fraudulent documents and events? No joke. The absolute truth. Need a really good exterminator ?!

Downspouts only

Wall@Dee

Simply trying to get a contractor, to install oversize downspouts . Not contractors that want to replace my new rain gutters existing ! Not interested in new gutters or Leaf protectors just want oversize downspout 3x6 or 3x8 ! Why is this so hard to find someone to install what I want?

Painter

u prople r really stupid

U gave me James Damron as a Trusted Painter. Right !! He was fast to cash my $500 check 18 jun but has fed me nothing but lies ever since . No show at all. Just lots of BS. LOTS!!! I want your help getting my $500 back. I really don’t want to get a lawyer on him, or YOU! Your first painter who did my house at least showed up. The job was sloppy and he had to borrow MY extension and step ladders to actually do the job !! Didn’t care much for that . But at least it got done, in a fashion. This thief doesn’t even show and now my phone is blocked in his phone! Can/will u help me? Thanks. Feel free to call me . Robert Pinkus 937-272-3579

Partial solution to an industry wide problem

I was drawn to this app from the advertisements on this old house. I hoped through the claim of thorough customer reviews that I would be able to find a local Tom Silva with the skill and availability to work on my project. When I started a project I was inundated with contractors calling me, immediately and repeatedly even on Sunday — that was ok considering it’s often difficult to get them to pick up the phone let alone come out for an estimate. However there was very little value to the contractor’s rating/reviews. There were either few choices or few ratings, I could not assess a quality referral. This was further validated when several were no-shows for estimates and the ones who did show up were sales consultants with very little operational knowledge and no ability to advise on even the slightest complication. With only 3 choices I picked the only 1 who showed up on time and submitted a review to complain about the others who did not even show! The job still took over 2 months to get on the schedule and another month to complete a simple gutter install, a 1 day job that had to be rescheduled 4 times, but since I already submitted a review about the estimate I could not submit another review for the job itself. It appears the app is geared toward collecting positive feedback as only a successfully completed job in a reasonable time to completion, is rated. No doubt there’s some good results for straight forward projects but this app does nothing to close the skills gap and doesn’t seem to even have the ability to recognize it. This is probably a bigger problem then 1 app can solve but I hope with direct ability to feedback and rate this will drive improvements in job quality and professionalism in the industry.

Don't. Just don't.

Slightly obsessive

I've tried it on two jobs. Each one returned only one contractor with not wonderful ratings so I decided not to proceed. The requests went though to the contractors and one called me four times. There needs to be a way to delete a request but if there is I haven't been able to find it.

Awesome app

Needed a plumber to move some water lines for a faucet install. Talked to the local plumbing shop near me. Got the we’re to busy right now for a small job excuse. Called a couple more places... left messages of what I needed done. Either wanted me to wait 2-3 weeks before they could send some one out. Or did not return my call. Used Home Adviser app. Posted what I needed done. Bam! Had 3 phone calls in 1 hour. Job was completed in 2 days. By the local plumber that said he was to busy for a small job! How’s that for service!!! Thank you Home Adviser!!!

Don’t even try it, such a waste of time and money !

You end up spending more than you make with it, it ends up either being a fake lead or end up spending more money on the leads than the customer wants to spend on entire project Had a homeowner expect a 1,500 sqft finished basement to be completely finished from block walls out for 30k estimated cost 72k considering materials needed. Cost me 91 dollars for the lead 10 in gas an hour drive time round trip hour for estimation needless to say not doing that job. I have other examples but done wasting time with this they will loose all the good guys eventually they will be nothing without the contractors doing the actual work Canceling this tomorrow a.m

Didn’t care for the 2 characters that came 2 years ago. Careless and kind of sneaky, I thought. The job was done but I could tell at least one was a drug user!!
