DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP Acorns sounds like a somewhat decent idea, but from my experience it's very shady and not very good at tracking your money, or letting you withdraw it. At this point in time, I have had all automatic deposits cancelled, bank account uncoupled, and account closed. For over 3 months I’ve had these recurring transaction continuing in my account and I had to work with my bank to block the transactions. OH, Acorns has absolutely 0 humans that will ever consider talking to you. I’ve been nothing but proper and polite and have had zero human responses, just bots attempting to find which FAQ is closest to mine, and it’s not helpful in my case. WHATS BETTER?: set up a recurring deposit with a legitimate broker like Fidelity and Charles Schwab/TD Ameritrade and use that money for ETFs and mutual funds. At least with TDA I can talk to a broker/service agent 8a-8p instantly.
Nearly impossible to withdraw money

I have been trying to withdraw my money for over a year. I keep running into issues. First, the small deposits sent to verify my account were never received. Now, all of the sudden, there’s issues connecting to the server. There weren’t any issues when I first gave you my money.

I wrote a review moments ago, but it doesn't show up. 0 stars. This app and service is a complete scam. Downloading and opening the app to see how it works is NOT consent to be billed recurring monthly charges. Nowhere does it indicate or disclose that there are recurring charges, only on the card directly after linking your bank account. There is no way to go back, to delete your bank account or personal information, and there is no way to skip over the subscription service. When I contacted "customer service" an automated bot spat out the programmed message that I have to wait for account verification before I can delete the account. I do not want my account to be verified or linked, I want it completely removed. I do not want any of my information on this app, but to remove even my name, I get a popup telling me I """"need to""" contact customer service, and provides a number. I shouldn't need to go through a 3rd party to wipe my personal data and close my account, nor wait hours on a call service. The app automatically logs you out after a certain period of time, and when I tried to log back in, it put me in an infinite loop of text verification codes being approved, then spitting me back out to the login screen to repeat the process. Horrible app, nonexistent service, a scam to steal your money and not allow you to stop the theft, putting up absurd artificial barricades, and holding your information and bank account hostage without consent.

At first it seems like a good idea to open an Account. Then due to personal issues I need it to close my account, I’m being trying to close it and it just stays there that is going to process. Trying to close it for almost a month, being on the phone waiting for more than 1 hour. Oh but they don’t stop charging. I just want my account close.

My account has been locked for 2 weeks. I’ve sent proof of who I am multiple times and a verification letter from my bank. I was then told it would take 24-48 hours to unlock it. It’s been 4 days and no one on the customer service line can actually seem to help you do anything other than say I’m sorry. I feel like I’m being scammed out of my hard earned money. Do not bank here because they will keep your money.

I had previously linked another bank account with acorns checking. This account had been verified. When I transferred money to acorns, they deemed it suspicious and locked my account, preventing me from accessing over a thousand dollars of my own money. They said I needed to do a three way call with them and the other bank, and to call them. Every time I called I was placed on hold with wait times of over an hour. Email support was highly dismissive of my concerns. While the app and investment service work well I would definitely not recommend based on their consideration for their customers.

If you think you may not want/need this app, then DONT GET IT. I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription for weeks, and it won’t let me. I keep getting a fee taken out of my bank account but I haven’t used it since August. Use CashApp instead! User-friendly. Acorns is a scam!!
