Takes several days to sync with your accounts :(

karacter0

If your wanted to have your accounts sync with YNAB, then you will need to wait a couple days. With every transaction that goes through your checking account, YNAB doesn’t grab it that day or the next. Maybe by the third day. This lag of timing is frustrating for me. The only solution is to input the transactions myself and then delete the lagging transaction when it comes several days later. If it were not for all the benefits YNAB brings me, I probably would pass this app up. But for me and my family, this app is a lifesaver. I have had this app and its Mac version for years. YNABs fundamental concept “give every dollar a job” changed for the better my relationship with money.

No Passcode or TouchID?

blindgoat

I love YNAB and this app greatly improves from Classic, however it needs to addTouch ID or a passcode. I realize nobody can access my banks through the app but I don’t want people seeing my budget or my kids accidentally messing with the budget when they’re on the phone Cheers!

NOT user friendly

Von d Champ

This app was not clear. Information was not pulled from my bank in real time. Completely useless

I really love it, but I’ve had some problems

Emazorra

For part of last year and the majority of this year, the app was pretty useless to me, since it couldn’t connect to my most important bank. It worked great in the beginning, but when my bank upgraded some security measures, YNAB couldn’t connect and I would lose my place budget-wise. I tried to keep up by reconciling, but it would get confusing and I would end up repeating transactions when it finally did connect. Still though, even with the issues, just my first few months with YNAB was so great, it was absolutely worth the subscription. But, I haven’t used it much at all until recently again. It seems the issue has been fixed, so I gave it a month to see how true that was, and it seems to be true. I really liked this app when I first used it, and it helped put into perspective how much I was spending on things like lunch at work and things I really could’ve waited on; it was also really useful to see me achieve my financial goals. I’ve really suffered without it, because I legit don’t have the attention span to keep an excel budget, so I’ve really missed YNAB. I’m hoping in another month or so, I can come back and edit this review with some more stars, because I really like this app and I really like the people behind it, who have been really supportive and definitely kept me informed the whole way regarding my bank issue. Granted, my bank is really localized, so if you use a big-name bank like Bank of America, I don’t think you’ll have the same issues I did. I think my experience has been really particular to people in my area. So, absolutely worth it; just make sure you’re prepared to do manual transactions if your bank doesn’t connect.

Changed my life

This app has made me view my money in a whole new way. I’m so much more careful about my spending. I’ve saved so much money in just the last month using it.

Confusing

Booboofoo2

This app is not easy to get started on — there are not clear directions for setting it up or how to use any/all of the features. It’s also not helpful if you want to pay down your credit card balance each month in full, but don’t want to account for money beyond that month’s statement. It’s also not helpful if you have a bunch of business expenses or split costs with others because you can’t account for the income that will pay for those expenses. It’s also way too expensive.

Love the desktop version

The app is a bit frustrating to use.

Wish you had more reports and a budget lock feature

mhummer

It would be cool if you could lock-in your budget and prevent you from changing the budget for the month. This way you could review what you actually spent vs. what you actually budgeted. I also wish you had more reports available. Once you had more reports, I will give this a better review.

This app has been a game changer!

MelissaMomma316

This app has been a game changer! First off, YNAB has made finances between a married couple so much easier. No more issues because we don’t know what the other has spent already. I hated calling to ask, “how much money can I spend on groceries?” No longer now that we have YNAB. Two improvements I’d like to see 1. Any field that requires numbers should automatically switch to the 9 digit number key pad instead of the text keypad. Why waste time having to switch keyboards when it could be automatic? 2. For families who share YNAB, like ours, we’d like each entry to somehow code with noting who made it. Like auto fill initials or something. So we can tell who entered what. For example, when we both visited the same store on the same day, looking back it can be hard to tell. Currently we have to put our initials in the comments section or research deeper into the bank account to see which card was used. Or it could use the prefix of the last 4 #s of which card was used when the info feeds over from the bank. That’d work too. Thanks for everything YNAB!

Good budget tool

I use daily, syncing has greatly improved. The calculator is a very nice addition. Credit card features are great. I’d like to see more Reports, with payer and category history over time. In the Budget tab, a total of the Budgeted/Available (sum of groups) just above/below To Be Budgeted would be awesome. Looking forward to future updates!
