Great app

Happyfeetsterdead

I have used YNAB for a while and love it. I do use the app on a daily basis. I highly recommend this for people who want their budget to work with them instead of being a hassle. They make it easy to organize categories and adjust things as you go. I also love the charts and reports that they offer. One thing that is frustrating: the “cover with” feature. When you overspend in one category and want to simply and quickly cover it with another category. It is easy on the website but the mobile app is frustrating. The app offers to take money out of the category you have selected (which is always the one I want to ADD money to) and put it somewhere else. I don’t know why it doesn’t work the same way the website does. One thing I would like to see is something in the reports about projected debt payoff information and tools. I love to watch my net worth love but it doesn’t have any calculators that project pay off or reaching wealth goals. Overall an amazing app. Thank you guys!

Grate.... when it works.

This app is fantastic when it works and when it is linked to your accounts. Unfortunately it is CONSTANTLY loosing connection with my banks. Out of the blue YNAB will ask me to re-link my account, so when I re-enter the user ID and password it then tells me the password or something else is incorrect. So then I go directly to my bank webpage and log in with zero issues. This happens on almost a monthly basis with multiple different accounts and financial institutions. It will tell me that the connection is lost between YNAB and my bank for about a week or 2 then it will finally accept the same user name and password it has always been and work flawlessly for about a week or two. Then the cycle starts all over again.

Game Changing Life Saver

I was 31K in debt with school loans, a car loan, and credit card debt. I had tried Mint, which was a great app to get an overall view of where my money was going, but I wanted to see where my money needed to go before it went there, and that's what YNAB does. Using this app and software was crucial in helping me get out of 31K in debt over 3 years. Now I am debt free with savings and I spend so much less on things I don't really want or need and just enough on things I do want and need!

Wish I had this years ago

I've been using daily for 4 months now and it has made a huge difference in my finances. Well worth the subscription fee in my opinion.

Love it but...

I really like this app. It is absolutely changing my and my wife’s life. Though it feels a little pricey. To the developer: Most of all, I almost exclusively use the browser over the app (so does my wife) because the UX is difficult to navigate. I feel that there has to be a better way to use the iOS version I’m just not sure what that looks like... I sincerely hope it gets better because I love my mobile apps! Consider sticking to the Human interface Guidelines from Apple and taking a more radical minimalist approach. It’s close but not quite perfect.

It’s great!

Overall the app is great but they no longer import from my bank. When I paid to subscribe I was able to connect to my bank. I’m extremely disappointed.

Start On Desktop!

I highly recommend using this app on the desktop computer the first time you go to use the program. The tutorial is better/existent. Once you go through the steps on the website and see how the tools work, it translates over to the app better. Especially since some of the tools don’t exist on the app (like the quick-move left over money). But I’m pretty excited about it and can already tell it’s going to be super helpful in managing my money. Update 6/25: This app has been SO helpful!! Definitely less stressed. I know exactly where my money is going and how much is being spent. They’ve put some really good updates in place that make the app very fluid and easier to use! My only wish now is that I want to see the more detailed reports like on the desktop version. Particularly the one that shows my income and expenses, and what the Net Income is.

A Step Back From The Old YNAB

Scott Redrock

I love YNAB. It’s simple and helps you keep you on track to your goals. I love that you can sync to your bank now and the way it manages credit cards is great. There are some major steps back though with the new web client version. My two biggest are that I can plan a future month until the paycheck is in the bank and that the reports screen is lacking. I liked how in the old version you could put in a future pay check and plan that month in advance. Now you have to wait till it’s in the account. There are some other minor things missing that I miss too as far as user interface. But the system itself is still great, just hope the web app gets back on the same level as the client based app was.

YNAB saved my life - literally

Smcco1959

I started using YNAB officially on June 1 after spending the month of May putting it through its paces and understanding how it works. I have to say it literally has saved my life. On Monday June 18, 2018 during the first tropical storm of the season down here on South Padre Island I was awakened to water literally pouring into my third floor apartment. The HOA was in the middle of replacing the roof and the worst possible thing happened. In a matter of a couple of hours everything I owned was ruined. But with all of my money had been given specific jobs and I was able to weather the storm, pun intended. Not only was I able to handle having to stay in a hotel till Friday. Peak season on the island isn’t cheap. But because I had money set aside for emergencies I was able to find a new even better place to live and could easily afford it. And as fate would have it I was able to move in on Friday. Currently the age of my money is only 17 days and I was still able to handle all of this upset stress free. I can hardly wait till the age of money goes past 30 days. Thank you YNAB for saving my life. Padre Island Steve
