YNAB is free iOS app published by You Need A Budget LLC

After using this app for several months it suddenly stopped connecting to my bank. I contacted tech support and they said they would look into it and it would take at least a few weeks!! This is unacceptable for an app that I am paying for!! Next time I will go with a free budgeting app since I have to enter everything in manually anyway now.

I am a newer YNAB convert. I began using it at the end of January, 2018. I took a big pay-cut and went back to school. I am obsessed. I’ve listened to every single podcast, I’ve read the book, I’ve taken a number of the workshops on the website. I have recruited three dear friends to YNAB with me. The app is wonderful, the company is wonderful. My husband and I have already paid off two of our smaller balance credit cards and are working on our third. YNAB is the answer to all of my budgeting needs.

LOVE ynab as a tool. But this new update of the app has some terrible user interface choices. The PRIMARY purpose of the app is entry of transactions on the go. So why do the calculator buttons keep getting smaller? Also the old cue showing reduction in category was great. It cued that you actually saved a transaction, plus the psychological hit immediately showing where you now sit in the budgeted category. Why make that go away? It’s like you’ve forgotten the utility of the app...

Keep the updates coming! I am so proud of myself! I just updated and moved funds around solely on the app!! Awesome sauce!

I love seeing exactly how much we have and what categories we are saving for etc. I’ve been using YNAB for over a year now and have really gotten into my groove with our budget. It does take time and commitment...in the beginning. Now I spend about 5-10 minutes every morning reconciling my accounts...I actually look forward to it! I try for monthly budget chats with my husband so he can see where we’re at. I have added things and tweaked my budget over the past year, and now I don’t think there is a thing that we’re not planning for. (A solid emergency fund for the totally unexpected stuff). I definitely spend less, because I know exactly where our money is and where we want it to go. With three teens in the house and college coming up, we need to be on top of things. I’ve tried MANY budgeting apps and this is the only one that finally allowed me to give up my Excel spreadsheet. We are a debt free family (no mortgage, no car payments, etc), but we do have a Lake house rental business (reasonable mortgage on that). YNAB has kept us SO organized!!! Love!

Not sure why they make credit cards so hard to use, track, and understand.

Claims to sell “anonymized” data, which is the same BS every other company selling your personal data tries to say.

I’ve been looking at and comparing budget apps for a couple of weeks now. It came down to two apps, one that is free and rated very highly, and this one. I set both apps up and it didn’t take me long to figure out this is the best app for me. I like that one can’t try and budget for things if the money isn’t already in your account. (I’m guilty of that. It never works out well.). Worth paying for.

The app functions decently well, has a very limited number of functions. The YNAB startup and budget tracking process is incredibly poor. Plus they provide you with little to no flexibility, you have to do it their way or the system does not work at all. Really can’t believe they charge $83 a year for this, so incredibly not worth it

Good UI and friendly money-tracking ethos.
