The computer is the “luckiest” player ever. I tested this using a small sample of 400 games, 200 with manual dice, 200 with computer generated. Tedious but I won 13% more games with manual dice. Statistically significant? Will probably try another app. Very frustrating. Yes, I read your dice disclaimer but the opp %’s for 2,3,4,5 point boards are 94,93,64,&42, respectively 12-20% higher than mine! Go figure. .

It’s a good learning tool if you want to improve your game. However, it can become frustrating over time and lead to bad habits as you learn how it cheats and try to work around it. For instance, one of the easiest ways to tilt the odds in your favor is to game the dice on occasion. This app does it when you are on the bar. The number of 66s you roll when you are on the bar is significantly over average. Because of this, I have noticed that I shy away from leaving open men because I’ve been trained that I will miss a turn too often when the 66 comes and I cannot come in. Very annoying.

Very bad design flaws. Can’t take back a move if the computer recommends a better one, surely that’s not right??? Even the help section is ‘broken’ it’s stuck on one page?

I enjoy this game. Sometimes I don’t understand what my errors are, though, and the program doesn’t explain why the other choice is better. That probably makes me look dumb, but I guess I just wish for a little more handholding or maybe a tutorial on how best to use XG mobile. I’ll use it as my primary game, though.

By far the most advanced Backgammon app on iOS. The design could be better. My only down side is that the double offer appear right where the dices rolls, so you usually tap there when you don’t want to, by accepting or refusing the doubling offer. Please, change the place of that pop up. Thank you!

Indispensable for finding the recognized best moves in the game of backgammon. Putting it in “training mode“ is the way to go. Probably one of the best if not THE best backgammon bot on the market. Well worth the money if you want to be a serious player.

You can learn how to play world class backgammon just by playing against this app. When I started playing this app my average score was over 20, which is rated as beginner level. Now I play at expert level. My average is approaching world class level. I already play a lot of world class level matches now. I even play a surprising number of games that are rated at world champion level. I still have some error-filled games that lower my average, but I don't make many bad moves that are considered blunders. I still lose most of the time when I play games at world class level. It’s not me claiming that skill level. It’s the app rating my games at that level. It can get to be maddening, which is likely part of the reason why people insist that the app cheats. Another reason for the claims of cheating is that certain things seem suspicious. In end-game situations when I have an 11 out of 36 chance to hit what I need to win, I can miss on 20 of those situations in a row. I’ve kept track. The computer never seems to go on those long stretches of missing, but I haven’t tracked that stat. My actual belief, when calm, is that the app probably doesn’t cheat, but it definitely seems to. My strategy at this point is to keep improving until I play almost every game at a world class or world champ rating. The best thing about this app is that it can actually be used to accomplish that goal.

Turn on the tutor mode and you will learn how to play very well. The comments that the dice are loaded are hilarious - yes, it is possible to see patterns everywhere but the program is designed to create completely random die and that’s what it does (even it doesn’t seem so when the computer happens to get a lucky draw). The computer wins because it plays better than any human.
