Bad customer service.

Great Prices, Not So Great Service

I got an awesome dress and blazer for a steal on thredUP and paid extra for expedited (2-3 days) shipping so it would arrive with enough time to get it cleaned and pressed before an upcoming job interview. It’s been 5 days and I’ve not received my package but things I ordered two days ago with standard shipping from another store are already here. How does that work? I get that it’s holiday season, but don’t tell someone they’re gonna get their package on the 28th only to find the tracker now says it won’t arrive until January 2. What did I pay extra for then? I tried contacting customer service about this but have heard nothing back. Like I said: great prices, not so great service. Update: I had reached out to customer support using their in-app chat on Saturday December 30. It’s Wednesday January 3 and I’ve received zero response. I did get my package on the 2nd, but the fact remains that I didn’t receive it within the 2-3 days I paid for and customer service is unresponsive. Love the clothes, not thrilled with the service.

Great concept but app is faulty and item descriptions are often wrong

I’m updating my review. I must change it to 1 star because it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach customer service. I have made numerous attempts over chat, email, the support web page, Facebook messenger, and voicemail for several days and have not received a single response. I will not be purchasing from Thredup again until I receive a response, a resolution for my problem, and assurance that I will be able to reach customer service in the future. Currently, customer service is nonexistent. I generally like buying from thredUP. I have found some great pieces here and the process is easy with free shipping and free returns if you take a credit. But the app crashes all the time and it can take a while for orders to arrive. Also, the filters on the app don’t always work - sometimes, adding a filter will cause MORE items to appear in the results, which makes no sense. Also, items are often categorized incorrectly so long-sleeved shirts show up in the short-sleeved category, J Jill items appear under J Crew, etc. I’ve also received several items that had damage (stains, bleaching, or even holes) that was not in the description. It’s also hard to see details in the photos on the app, so I’m often surprised when I receive an item and it looks totally different in person than it did in the photo.

Much love!

I adore ThredUP! This store allows me to purchase gently used clothing for cheaper which has greatly helped save me some cash on my weight loss journey. The store also allows me to donate my used clothing to those who could benefit the most from it. Browsers also have the ability to sell their own clothing. This is a user-friendly app and the store is one I will continue to purchase from.

Thredup makes it possible to get the brands I want (and the quality) at a price that means it’s not one nice top and maybe one pair of shoes, but several tops, pants, shoes, and a necklace! It has ha changed the way I look at clothing shopping - I’m always walking through the mall thinking, “That’s nice, but I can get the same thing on Thredup for much less.” I’ve literally been on the app at the mall looking for the Thredup version of what I’ve wanted....and I always find it!

Love it and hate it

Update 1.5.18 Went from 2 stars to 1. I have two returns I need to do. For the first time the shipping label wasn’t included in my returns information, only the QR code for the materials I purchased. They don’t have live customer service, only a chat feature. I’ve attempted to chat someone for assistance about a dozen times over the last three days and have not received a response. I have over $100 worth of returns that I will lose out on because of this. Update 12.18.17 Went from 4 stars to 2 stars I’ve returned items almost a month ago. I have chatted into customer service multiple times with no response about where my credit is. Why have a chat feature if you don’t respond to it? I used to love this and had zero problems, but now I’ll be switching to The Real Real. They did eventually respond and my return was processed almost a full month after they received it. Previous review: I haven't sold anything to ThredUP, but I've bought A LOT from them. The description of most of the clothes is usually spot on. Sometimes they describe something as being qualified for "the basement" but I have yet to find out what that means. I've looked all over their website and can't find what that means, but I assume it's a product in pretty poor condition. Returns are both great and a pain in the neck. They give you plenty of options and I've never had a problem getting my refund or store credit...but they take a long time to do it. I often return for store credit since I buy from them so much. They wait for the product to get back to them, and in my experience it takes a about a week even though I live one state over from where it's going. Once they receive it, it then takes another 5-7 days for them to put the credit on your account. I wouldn't care about this timing so much, but your shopping cart expires every 24 hours. So, I'm literally waiting to hit purchase once my credit hits, but often times when I do several things have been moved out of my cart and are often already purchased by other people or in their cart. When things are moved out of your cart, and haven’t been purchased by someone else, sometimes it's hard to re-find the item unless you marked it as a favorite. I'll often un-favorite and re-favorite something if it's something I intend to purchase soon just so I can find it easily. Another bug is that with favorites you can sort by what’s currently a favorite or something that you marked as a favorite but is no longer available. Sometimes it’s things I’ve purchased. I think it’s safe to assume that if I’ve purchased it that it can be removed from favorites because if I return it I won’t want to buy it again. Also, I do like that they keep your favorite items marked even though they’ve been sold just in case they get returned, but I would say if it’s been sold for 30+ days, it’s not finding it’s way back so it’s ok to remove from the favorites automatically, but instead I have to go in and manually un-favorite something. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to sort my favorites by type of clothing (skirt, pants, shoes, etc.) but you can’t. Other than that, love not spending a ton of money on great clothes! I mostly enjoy it, they just have a few bugs to work out!

Fantastic service and products!

I love shopping with ThredUP! The clothes are top quality and the beautiful way they are packaged makes me feel like I’m shopping with a very exclusive high end store!

So worth it!!!

I’ve great experiences both buying and selling. I was able to sell a big portion of my daughters clothes, payout seemed very reasonable to me... what I would have expected to make selling on my own minus the legwork. The items I’ve purchased have exceeded my expectations, most are brand new or great condition for a great price. Love thredUP and will continue to use.

Meh

QuelSauvage

I like the idea, but the reality seems to be that there are way more people selling than buying. Not bad if you’re just cleaning out your closet - but the consignment items move at the pace of tectonic plates.
