It used to be better... Now, I’m constantly frustrated.

The app used to better at updating the amount of money on my cards. Now, not only does it constantly show incorrect money, but it has gotten so - EXTREMELY -slow with loading that I have taken to only completing mobile orders to save myself the embarrassment of 1) not having the money the app tells me I have and 2) making the entire line wait on the app to load the screen that allows me to add money. And to add insult to injury, the app often says an item is not available at my location when it, in fact is, and vise versa.

I find it very upsetting that I cannot reload $5 on my card — or whatever random amount I want to reload. MY decision Starbucks, not yours.

This review is strictly on how dumb the reload amount is. I feel as a consumer we should be able to select what ever reload amount we want starting at $5! Not everyone has $25 to reload for one coffee that day. I get that it’s a way to make us spend more...but CMON. That’s a whole meal spent in one day already on COFFEE.

Mobile order is life changing, but holy hell bring the minimum reload for the rewards card back down to $10. I was .50 short for my coffee and you want me to reload $25??? C'mon don't be greedy.

Hate the update to $15 minimum then $25 minimum. I always just wanted to re-up what I wanted. I get the gift card trick. Consumers will spend it all especially if there’s any left over. I could deal with $5 $10 and their plan worked but now it’s just greed. You’ll hear them reply with “but fees” well they don’t complain about the $2 to $5 swipes that also cost the store for single item purchases. Put it back to $5 or custom and maybe I’ll patronize again.

I love so much about the app EXCEPT... the balance on the card has not been accurate for months. I’m reluctant to use the app to pay unless I’m certain what the balance is supposed to be...even then, I was required to reload yesterday and once the transaction was finished. The barista noticed there must’ve been money on the card the whole time!


It was an F before, I give it a C now.

Pros: - Mobile orders when you’re in a rush. - You can easily re-load cards. - You earn rewards. Cons: - The app doesn’t refresh real-time. The balance doesn’t update and you might think you have money to pay, but you don’t. - Re-ordering favorites doesn’t seem as user-friendly as you’d think. - The app takes too long to load sometimes. - On the baristas’ end, they don’t seem to notice customizations 80% of the time. If you ordered a drink with extra something or a pastry not warmed up, they never follow instructions. Not sure how the app shows that information to them, but it’s obviously not working. - For such a big, successful company like Starbucks, I expect a better app.
