It’s good enough but not great

I like that I can book daily parking cheaper than at the gate BUT it’s a cumbersome website and app for something fairly simple. Examples: - I can’t book or search monthly parking on the app or the mobile website. - I can’t easily search monthly parking that might be coming available. It should tell me future monthly parking options and say “available on x date”. - I can’t book daily parking for every Saturday (for example) without doing it manually. There should be a repeat option. - When you search monthly parking it displays a phone number and says they love to help. The guy on the phone just did the same search as me and no additional help whatsoever. - I sent in a message via the support center and no one ever reached out to me. - I tried entering a $10 off coupon but it’s only for first time users and I’d grumpily already booked parking the night before. Bummer. I do like the prices and it’s worked fine on every booking. I like that you can cancel last minute, which I’ve used a couple times when it’s snowing and I decide to work from home. I just wish they had more support and functionality.

We got a ticket!

We downloaded the app, paid for a spot, triple checked and confirmed it was the correct spot and we got a $39 ticket. Feels like a scam and we’d never trust again!!

The newest version of this app seems to have gotten rid of Favorites. I’m sure I will come to like this version but for now as a very frequent user and promoter if this app, I am disappointed.

Great way to find great inexpensive parking in Chicago

I love this app. Chicago is an expensive city to park. You can spend anywhere from $20 - $40 daily to park. SpotHero allows you to find great parking spots for a few $$.

Booked a spot on Valentine's Day next to a restaurant where I had reservations that had the space occupied by a Jeep that was in the instruction photo--the owner was apparently parked in the spot he was leasing. So I then resorted to booking another spot with a garage lift gate 4 blocks away which sucked but it was the only place under $40 in the area. When I went to leave later that night the app said my reservation was canceled even though I already had scanned in and my car was in the garage--clearly not a user error. Called spothero and they were closed for the night so I had no way to use the qr code to open the gate without paying a lost ticket fee of $100. So I then took a $30 Uber ride home leaving my car in the garage until morning to resolve. When I called spothero in the morning the "supervisor Charlie" told me to pay for a new reservation and lie to the parking garage or rig something to try to sneak my car out. This is after I paid for 2 extra parking fees plus $60 in Uber rides after I had to get a return trip. I explained everything to the garage in the morning and that garage was nice enough to let me out for only $20 more. Do not use these guys when there is things like ParkWhiz and ParkEx in Chicago. All and all this whole situation cost me like $100 and I had to walk an extra 4 blocks and leave my girlfriend waiting a half hour by herself on Valentine's Day. Maybe worst customer experience I've ever had. My car was basically impounded by these idiots and their doofus phone clerks were probably getting off by not helping me.

App provides no value

Overall this app is literally nothing that couldn’t be provided via a website, but they want to sink their fingers into you phone to spam notifications and pull your location information. Their website literally won’t let you download a parking pass... why? Why would an app be faster than a website for an Apple wallet item? If airlines and parking panda can figure it out, spot hero should too. Beyond frustrated that I HAVE to install this to download parking passes, but I make sure to delete it again immediately after.

First time worked great

Always used the app just to locate parking lots and approximate prices in NYC. Always was skeptical about prepaying on the app. Had to go up to the city for two nights and found a lot too cheap to pass up. Figured I could just dispute it with my credit card if it didn’t work. The lot took my prepaid reservation no worries. And it was way easier than paying there.
