Comments don’t load

Love the content. I’m a longtime Slate+ subscriber. But the app has been neglected and now the comments don’t load at all. This after having been inferior to the web comments for some time. It’s a semi-blessing NOT to have the sludge-pool of comments because I read more content that way. But a broken feature is a broken feature.

I love Slate’s analysis on the day’s news. It comes with a liberal slant but that’s my persuasion anyway do it works. Slate Plus gets you a load of ad-free podcasts as well. Definitely worth the small cost!

Love the content, dislike the app

This app crashes on me roughly 2 of every 5 times I use it. Some features, tapping the Life section for example, crash it every time. The main page lists most stories twice. Many times the articles refer to an "after the jump," but I haven't figured out how to get past the first screen. I don't understand how such a well-known publication can have such a bad app for such a long time. Updated to add: other issues include that commenting in dark mode means you can’t see what you’re typing, and as of Sept/Oct 2020, all articles are in the eminently-hard-to-read all italics. Again, the fact that this app has been sub-par for so long just completely baffles me

I love the stories, hate the glitchy app that crashes all the time.

Often, scrolling is glitchy and sticks, other times the app just crashes randomly when opening or closing a story. It’s been like this for years. I still like the stories, a lot, so two stars for content, minutes 3 for frustration.

Have to give the latest version one star, because it just crashes after a few seconds. Of course given it is not functional, should give 0 stars but App Store doesn’t allow 0 stars. I do use an older iPad, Air 2, which has “only” 2GB of RAM. Test on older devices, and don’t support them if you can’t figure out how to fit in 2GB without crashing.

I can’t believe in this day and age that an app would keep storing what I’ve listen to and taking up space on my phone. And the only way to get rid of it is to delete the app! Crazy! Just experienced it again! Lost my place on my favorite podcast. I only bought Slate+ for Political Gabfest and will not renew. Weak app isn’t worth it. Although I love the podcast.

I love the articles from Slate! I have some issues when using the app, though, like problems loading and scrolling through articles. It has also crashed on me several times, and it takes a huge toll on my battery life. Please, please, please fix this app, because I otherwise do love the content.

App freezes and crashes pretty consistently - typically multiple times a day and often multiple times in a row. I would become a SlatePlus member if they could get this app functioning.
