Crashes a lot!!

FoxZia38

I discovered Slate app through one of your journalist Twitter. First I downloaded the app to my iPad and tried to sign in, it crashed! Secondly, I downloaded it to iPhone and tried to sign in, it crashed! Please fix.

Frequent crashes

JH-Denver

App crashes nearly ever time I use it. Twitter embeds won’t play video in slate app, have to go to Twitter app to see them. Slate is one of my main go to news sources, but their app is terrible.

Paid but still get advertisements

kr4k

Subscribed to go ad free. Podcasts still full of ads. Very disappointed and will not continue subscription.

Overheats my iPhone

mtp687

I noticed that using the Slate app causes my iPhone to overheat. I’ve tested the other apps I use one-by-one, and none of them cause this issue. Also the Slate app will crash randomly. Again, none of the other apps on my iPhone do this. So I don’t think my phone is the problem.

Awful—Worst App I Use

annoyed yser

Crashes constantly. Slow to load pages. Links and photos are frequently missing. Right now, it’s shutting down completely every time I try to look at the comments. No idea why. I like Slate, but there’s no way I would pay for it with this crummy interface.

Why O You Want Me To Pay?

Farewell My Friend

I enjoy reading Slate very much. Sadly I am going to disable the app because you won’t let me read it unless I pay. It started with Slate+ being the gateway to much of Dear Prudence and ended today when you gave me notice I had read all the free articles I could without subscribing and you shut me off. My question is: if I need to pay to read, what do you do with all the advertising dollars you must generate because there are ads everywhere? Just like many other current sources, I’m asked to pay and then wade through many, many ads to find the pieces of the article. I’m not paying them either. And I’m not paying to play games, nor do I pay to watch cable TV for $150 a month and still put up with ads everywhere. It just bothers me about you more than the others because I enjoy Slate—your writers are fantastic, the content is always interesting and compelling, and the satire suits me perfectly. I even buy things from some of the advertisers paying you to be present everywhere in Slate. It’s a shame that now you have closed the door to me unless I pay, too.

Terribly buggy.

Of all the news apps I use, this is the worst! Constant crashes and bugs. I’d love to get a Slate+ subscription but this app is too garbage to spend money on it.

Recent update broke internal links

KleinRider

Slate Plus subscriber here. Links from within stories pop up in a separate browser, even if they are Slate links. That’s fine until the login credentials for the app do not carry over to the separate browser, requiring constant logging in to read articles.

Well written and to the point

jebazer

The writing is sharp, no tangents, and succinct. Quick way to get political, pop culture and current events news.

Ugh

Denver Observer

I have ongoing issues with the app where I get no new content for days. Then after a passage of time, I’ll get a slew of new content. I cannot figure out how to fix it, and I get no help from Slate in fixing it. I delete the app and reinstall it. I’ve even set up new subscriptions to know avail. Ugh.
