The Slate app is quite buggy. It crashes frequently and requires me to sign in every time I want to read an article. Even though I have a paid subscription to Slate, I often get ads in the app. Also, the search function is terrible. The worst part is the tech team has been unresponsive when I report issues. I hope they fix the app soon as I am thinking about canceling my subscription if there continues to be problems.

The ability to quickly access media is the most basic function of an app like this. It logs me (and everyone else) out every time. What exactly is the point of this app as it stands now? I might as well use my browser. Fire someone responsible (for the encouragement of others) and hire someone who can fix this.

Love the content but the App has become unstable. It now requires me to log in just about every usage. For days it would not let me log in. They cannot seem to get it working as promised

Just like many others, the “fix” means that I can actually sign in, but that sign-in only lasts 8 hours until I’m asked to sign in again. Grrrr. Also, the app sign-in screen doesn’t trigger my password manager, so have to type my whole email and safe-but-very-long password AGAIN.

I am a Slate+ subscriber and the app forces me to log in every day but seldom actually works. No matter which method of logging in I try, I get error messages saying it can’t link my purchase to my account. I’m completely over it. Was ambivalent about subscribing in the first place as I think there are many better quality news sources but this has ruined my opinion of Slate.

I used to love this app but for the past several weeks it signs me out every time and will not work with my password manager to sign back in. Even worse, I can no longer see comments. I pay for Slate plus, and I mostly read it for the comments on the advice columns. Now when I click on comments it says “there are no comments yet” even though I know there are. I can see them if I go to Slate.com using Chrome, (though not safari!) but I prefer the format on the app. Slate technical support has been useless. I will be cancelling my slate plus subscription.

Many other reviews point out that the app crashes daily and you have to log in every day to access the premium “Slate Plus” content. This has been happening on and off for the more than a year I have been using the app. I really want to continue to read Slate but the app is my primary way to consume content and it does not do the job required. Lately more and more content is premium access only, which requires the user to be logged in. Recommend you do not sign up for Slate Plus if you intend to rely on this app for accessing the content you paid for.

Buggy in two main ways: 1 - doesn’t update articles at the same time as the website 2 - if you click a linked article in the app it opens safari within the app and has you login again.

I have loved slate and have been a plus member for years. Recently I am unable to read any articles as a paywall comes up, even though I should be signed in. I can’t even hit the link to sign in on this wall as the link doesn’t work. I have emailed the company and their only answer is that they know this is a problem but have no idea if or when it will be fixed. Sorry. I will cancel that membership now. Geez, get your act together!! Higher some new tech people. How many people will you loose over this???
