Why must we have to sign in every time we open the app? Why can’t it just remember my login or stay logged in like virtually every other app out there?

I love Slate, and I’m a Slate Plus member, but the app is killing me with the login issue. I downloaded it again after the update a couple of days ago that purported to fix the problem, but sadly, no.

The “fix” did not work. I still need to log in every time I open the app. It’s not worth paying for Slate Plus to have to deal with this.

This app requires you to log in almost every time you want to read an article. It is constantly hounding you to either disable your ad blocker or subscribe (even if you have just logged in), it forgets who you are and tells you that you have read all your free articles (once again, even if you have just logged in) and even if you are logged in as a Slate + member you get the same deal. Other apps manage to remember who you are over the course of a week and more.

The iPhone app requires me to sign in EVERY TIME I first try to open an article. This is extremely annoying, particularly given what I’m paying for a Slate+ membership. Please fix this ASAP.

Edit 10/5: No, the sign in issue is not fixed. While the screen appears now, I have to sign in every time I use the app. The native password manager on my phone does not recognize it as a slate sign in screen and I have to select it manually, which is odd. Also, comments no longer work. **** Slate, please fix your app. Roll back to the previous version. This one doesn’t allow me to sign in and view the content I’m paying for. Either a blank screen pops up, or an error message, or it’s completely non-responsive. The one time this week that I could sign in, I was signed out again after one article. I pay for slate plus-please let me access it.

Always buggy, but for the past few weeks all the comments are absent from every article. Have to go to website instead to read them.
Seattle Tails
I loved Slate for the Comments section where the smart people hung out. I learned so much there but now there’s suddenly no comments for any article I click on so Slate has discontinued them? Why? It was the best part of Slate. I would often skip the article & go straight to the comments. Show some courage Slate & bring them back.

Good content but very frustrating that as a slate plus member I have to continually sign in and lots of times it doesn’t work
