“No substitutions” doesn’t work

I’ve been having the same issue since December, maybe November. I do not eat meat and sugar free products with artificial sweeteners make me sick. Sometimes I simply don’t want a replacement for an item if it’s out of stock. Cheese pizzas are replaced with pepperoni, coffee creamer and other items are replaced with sugar free versions, etc. It’s becoming a hassle and it’s happening more and more. I also received an advertisement from doordash in my most recent order. I’m not entirely sure if that’s allowed, but I don’t need that. The internet has endless coupons and it’s just going to go in the trash.

To search an item, it has to be word for word exact or it won’t know what you’re talking about. Even if you link it to a store, it won’t tell you if an item is actually available in that store. Maybe the Target app has spoiled me, but it’s also very frustrating it doesn’t say which aisle items would be in. They don’t have alphabetized aisle markers in store, obviously, but it doesn’t even say what category things falls under. It also doesn’t give you the option for pickup or delivery when you add an item to cart, and has a pretty high minimum required amount before you can check out. So if you want to just get one item you forgot and don’t feel like going all the way back through the store and hunting it down, you can’t. The deals are okay, but Safeway is already so overpriced that you’re better off just going to another grocery store. The only reason I go is because it’s the nearest store to me and everything else is twice as far. Overall, the app can be somewhat helpful, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

I placed an order on the app to pick up at 5pm. Notification came at 1:15pm that my order was ready. Picked up order at 4pm & noticed a couple hours later that I didn’t receive everything I ordered. Went to look for a receipt and none to be found. Last order in the app only shows a partial order, doesn’t even show everything I picked up. Very lame. I was told to go to settings in the app and can’t even find settings
Why don’t you tell me what items were not in stock!?!?

Ever forget something while shopping because you didn’t make a list? Same exact experience here except more frustrating because you enter an item from a recipe for later in the week. And if the item is not in stock, there is no tracking to tell you what was not included!!!! Come on!! So easy. I have no idea what I am missing for thie coming weeks dinners, only what I paid for. I know one item was not in stock because I can’t find it anywhere but not noted on your app or receipt! Also, can the shopper be a little picker about the item. Received butter that looks as though it was melted and reshaped completely, tough to use for recipes!!!

I am new to Safeway pick up and learned the hard way that you have certain unwritten rules. After setting a pick up day and time, the app said I could make changes before a certain time, which I did, doubling the size of my order. Little did I know that doing so would change my pick up date! Two wild goose chases later, I finally figured out what was going on. I was sooo upset! If your app made it clear what would happen if I made such changes to my order, I would have known. And why did it say I could still make changes if that wasn’t the case in the first place? Also, the guys answering my calls after my arrival were clueless on both days and that didn’t help. I have now scheduled my arrival for Friday and will check before driving several miles to the Albany store for the third time. I’m on the verge of becoming a FORMER Safeway customer. Walmart has NEVER done this kind of thing to me, ever, and I’ve never had to wait two days to pick ip an order. My pick up orders from them has always been pleasant, flawless, courteous and next day pick up service. I expected the same from you, Safeway!

I’m very confused by the new update I usually do not have a problem with this app. But ever since the update my rewards that I have earned and not being used on my qualified purchases. Is there something I need to do to make this work better? Please help!
