Embarrassment

Plain and simple: this app is embarrassing in every aspect. Functionality, speed, enhancement to an experience as a client. You can’t switch from one account to another. You can’t use modern features like touchID or faceId. I am embarrassed to say I work as an advisor with this app for clients after trying it out personally for my own accounts. Update: the app has gotten worse with the updates. It’s flat out embarrassing that a fortune 100 company that can have so many clients counting on accessing their accounts via an app can have dropped the ball sooooooo terribly. I actually tell clients now to “never count on Principal to do anything right technology wise. It is a total joke.”

The original app was so much better and this one crashes on return to the home summary screen. 1. Crashes 2. Sluggish 3. No longer shows percentage summary of stock performance. 4. Color scheme is bad and more diminished. 5. No iPhone touchID password. Does not work at all on software update 11.3.1. Not sure how a company this big does not support a working app. I went to this app everyday and now I'm going to have to give up and go to the website instead. Very frustrating. Please bring the other app back until this one has a restored functionality.

Nice to know I can access my 401(k) whenever I want via the app...THATS DOESN'T WORK!! Completely blank screen. Uninstalled, reinstalled and still notta. Tried going to the website via iPhone still can’t get to the log in screen

This app is pretty bad, and after the app, you somehow managed to make it worse. Who are you hiring to develop this, 3rd graders?


Beyond bad...

This so called app is really a poor version of Principal's mobile site. It looks like it was made about 10 years ago, has no optimization for newer phones, no touch id or face id login nor is it particularly interactive once your in. This is pretty bad for a company that manages millions in assets.

This app was always minimal to begin with. Now with the recent update it has gone from minimal to unusable. Obviously a novice programmer at work with no demands of any kind on quality control by anyone.


Getting worse

Since last update, I have to do my username and password instead of just my password. It’s like logging into the website. What’s the point of the app then? It also asks me twice if it can use my current location- every time I login! Most annoying app I have. It was better before last update.
