Was great, I understand why you don't have a powerful free version without ads but making it a reoccurring fee is not good. Give me an option to pay once I'd be glad to but every year is not good. Back to downcast I come it had more options anyways and no reoccurring fee and is updated more often. Time to move on

Overcast has become my podcast player of choice. Listening to a podcast without smart speed seems archaic. Even with the new revenue model, which are done tastefully, Overcast is a great example of an app that is thoughtful and cared for. Thanks Marco!

I don't mind a developer wanting ad revenue. I think it's poor taste to force existing users into ads after they start using the app. Launch a new version with ads, fine. But a minor release, and switched to ads? Terrible money grab. I guess Marco got what he said on his podcast, recurring revenue for little work.

If you were an all access, or whatever it was called when you bought the app a year or two ago, all you need to do is go into "restore purchases" and you won't get ads. And you get the dark theme. So, there you go.

It is clear that the developer of this app uses it and made it because he listens to Podcasts. This is the best app for me because of the way playlists are handled. I stay up to date on my favorite podcasts and have a queue of good podcasts waiting after that without any thought. Smart speed is amazing because you don't notice it but it adds up. I really appreciate the thought that went into this app. I like the look of other apps better, and some other apps have features/design choices I miss, but overall the experience of listening to podcasts is best with Overcast.

Don't listen to these other reviews. This is by far the best podcast app on the Store and clearly has a developer behind it who is dedicated to maintaining and improving it's quality.

I was happy to shell out a few bucks a month (even though it really gave me virtually nothing), but I'm not going to pay you $10 a month to remove ads. I guess that it's time to go back to Pocket Casts.

I've tried a half-dozen different podcast apps -- without question, this is the best.

Was a great app among many solid podcast clients, but recent updates first to enable UI improvements (dark mode), and now generating ad revenue on the back of (other) podcasters. Ewww no thanks. I can't help make your Tesla payments in that scenario dude.
