Needs HomeKit support. iOS 11 makes this easy with existing hardware from Nest.

While Nest is owned by google, that doesn’t give a good excuse for not updating the app for the iPhone X. Clunky look and feel.

We are early adopters that have lived nest forever! Except lately. Motion sensor feature no longer works to trigger/ turn off HVAC I used to get notifications when someone entered and set thermostat to Home. Why no more? Temp set at AWAY. Checked when on vaca but was at 70 heat! Set my thermostat to 58 manually. Checked the next day and heat had been running although no one home. This has happened a lot! User interface on app makes it hard to find the toggle for motion and can’t find a way to be notified. Sad that a product we once loved is no longer user friendly or eco friendly. Please fix!

iPhone X has been out for over a month, yet still no support for it. The iPhone app tells me I don’t have a Nest Aware subscription, but the iPad version of the app does. Limited to what you can do with the app. Most things need to be done on a computer, and that’s IF you can actually log into home.nest. So far it hasn’t worked on one computer. So much for being a company part of the Google empire. Expected more.

Don’t waste your time with the camera system. It was great when it was Drop cam. The camera system is worthless without a recording subscription. The Nest app only allows the camera to turn on or off on a schedule. The old Drop cam app had a separate schedule for alerts which was important. Motion detection is unreliable. I tried three times to bring the issues to their attention but they don’t seem to care.

I would expect the app to be as awesome as the Nest thermostat. While I am waiting for a slick app with lots of features let’s start with one basic oversight. The app should show the current room temp and not just what the dial is set to. The Alexa app does a better job of telling me that than the Nest app. Cmon!
