I have been doing my taxes and using H&R for ten years. Suddenly when I needed to enter in one piece of info at the end when I had completed everything then they tell me they won’t file my return unless I pay them $100. There was no way around nothing I could change they physically wouldn’t let me look into the credit/form until I payed them.

I just did my wife’s basic tax return with the standard deduction and one state credit, and what was supposed to be “free” ended up costing $139. Every year, they add more/higher fees and seem to lower the threshold for which filing service you have to use. I.e. Free, Deluxe, etc. This year, without alerting you of the fee before finalizing, they now charge $39 for direct deposit. This is a total crock and is the straw that broke the camels back for me. You can kiss our repeat business good bye. Plus, the automated features to save you entry time, never work and I’ve always had to manually enter EVERYTHING. Terrible, terrible tax filing company.

They ask you multiple times to upgrade even when you don’t need it. The options aren’t clear so you can’t move on fast. I had to call customer service and downgrade after being cornered to upgrading on the app. Terrible.

Used this app to file taxes and set up electronic funds withdrawal for payment to both IRS and state. I scheduled payment to be made on tax day and my account was never debited. Contacted support and they told me that because I’d chosen to pay via EFW I had to contact both the IRS and my state to make payment. What is the point of offering EFW as an option if it doesn’t work and I have to contact them anyway? Do not recommend thins app.
