App constantly crashes when zooming into live video

Besides crashing, the app also lags when you first open it to see live video.

Great camera - buggy app

BesosForBezos

The cameras are fantastic, but i continue to have problems with the app. If i zoom in and try to maneuver through the screen, the app closes. Every time. This is on both iOS as well as amazon fire tablet.

No 3D Touch functionality

I’m giving four stars because you have to open the app then press settings to turn the camera OFF. To turn the camera ON you have to open the app and either press a very small “turn camera on” or go into settings. This should use 3D Touch functionality to TURN ON or TURN OFF Camera.

Better deal than Nest, but iPad app is glitchy

Sashazur

The cameras and the monthly subscription plans are much less expensive than Nest cam, and otherwise features seem similar. So in general I'm happy with the cam and the app. But if you use this app on both iPhone and iPad there are some issues: First, apparently the "Home/Away" settings on both devices can conflict and prevent home/away from working reliably; to fix this Amazon support could only suggest removing this app from my iPad since I keep the iPad at home. Second, I use my iPad with a keyboard cover, so flipping it to portrait is a pain when I want to see clips or access settings. It would be great if the iPad app could work better in landscape mode. To be fair this is a problem with lots of iPad apps that treat the iPad like it's a giant iPhone and figure you'll only use it in portrait.

Deleted and reinstalled app everytime if want to view

Scheduling needs improvement

ChameleonCloud1

Let me just start by saying this camera is awesome. It's just the software that needs twerking. I like the home/away feature. So if I leave home with my phone, the camera automatically turns on. And when I return home, the camera knows and turns back off. I don't need to watch myself while I'm at home. BUT I do want this camera to turn on at night time while I'm in bed. So this new feature, scheduling, allows me to do that. I can have it automatically turn on at 9pm and turn back off at 5am. But the problem is I have to turn home/away off. Not a very good option as I still want my camera to turn on when I leave. So what we really want is home/away to still be on and work but when we sleep and set a schedule for that to override that feature. Not have to turn it off completely. I have confidence that Amazon will eventually give us what we want but until then I only give with 3 stars.

Schedule and Home/Away

Thanks for added schedule but I would like to use both features but that’s currently not an option. I won’t Home and away on but the camera to turn on at night when we are sleeping.

Horrible

This is an assessment after using this for a few months. It’s horrible and the velocity of release/fix is unacceptable given the bugs present in the device and this app. Here’s a list of bugs that’s been around since release. Still present as of April 2018. 1. App fails miserably when switching orientation between portrait and landscape. 2. App often gets stuck in recording view and fails to exit to live view. To repro, tap on motion detection notification in landscape mode on iPad, which takes you to recording. Try exiting to live view. You can’t! 3. App doesn’t let you zoom in on recordings. 4. App randomly crops and gets stuck when trying to zoom in. 5. Recording is often heavily pixelated with 100mbps connection with no traffic. 6. Motion based recording often fails because of pixelation. 7. No Apple TV app. 8. No concept of household for home/away feature. Did they design this for single people living by themselves? 9. Home/away assumes the person/device is permanently home if your beacon device powers off while you’re home. Even worse if you uninstall the app while you’re home it will assume you’re always home with no way to fix. 10. Recording starts too late or ends too early. It misses the relevant action 90% of the time. This is a deal breaker for a security cam. 11. Start up / restart takes too long (>3minutes) if it power cycles or network temporarily drops. 12. The setting for audio (playback, and not recording) doesn’t stick. 13. No multi cam view if you have more than one camera. 14. Resolution isn’t good enough for capturing license plates. Another deal breaker for security camera. 15. Video tends to get very pixelated when motion is detected and it starts uploading. Given the fast connection, I have to assume it’s the device being overworked or Amazon servers being overloaded. I’m paying for cloud cam service. It’s 1080p when nothing is moving. It’s sub-240p when there is motion. Completely useless... 16. When the upload bandwidth is temporarily maxed the video pixelates. (Eg when running speed test) But the quality never recovers when the bandwidth returns to normal. Video remained pixelated for 30minutes after bandwidth capacity returned to normal. The test was terminated at this point. @Amazon, I suggest getting higher caliber engineers if you want to gamble with monitoring and controlling entry in to peoples home. This is penny wise pound foolish on a colossal scale given the negligence/liability.
