Need timeline view

Taktakclive

It's highly inconvenient and borderline unusable to have to click through individual clips to see what happened in the past. We need to be able to scroll through a timeline with motion indicators to see different moments quickly and easily.

Nest vs Cloud Cam

HeavyLoadz

I’ve had the Nest DropCam cameras since their release. I decided to try Amazon Cloud Cam, because of the annual cost was far more reasonable than the Nest cost. Camera Review: I can honestly say that the Nest Cam night vision is of higher quality. The day time is also performs less than the Nest. The Nest has an enhanced image feature when zoom in to focus, with light filtering. The enclosure of the Cloud Cam feels like cheap plastic and it does have that solid feel. The Nest Cam has some weight to it and has a metal enclosure, very nice design. The mounting system is similar to each other, but I prefer the Nest. Nest locks into place with no slop. The Cloud Cam feels like it’s hanging off of the mount. App Review: This app falls very short of decent. On the Nest app, all of you cameras are feed in a thumbnail all on one page. The Cloud Cam only has one camera at a time. Swiping is required to scroll to the next camera. The terrible part comes when you have an alert and the app is slow to connect to the camera and the person has moved out of frame and is on the other camera. Constant is needed to find the person in you house. Rather the Nest has it all on one page and you can click on the camera which has the person in frame. No sharing is available for the camera feeds. No syncing across the devices that you have signed in as yourself. If you turn a feature off, you’ll need to do it on all the devices. Nest syncs across all devices. No app sharing, my garage door can integrate with the Nest app and MyQ app. No enhance image feature like the Nest. No outdoor cameras. No iPad support, tried to download for my iPad. The app didn’t come up on the search. I had to view purchased apps and download for iPhone. It looks like crap on the iPad No web browser support, you can not connect to your cameras on your computer. When you turn off the camera, it’s only turned off on that app you turned it off on. It will continuously record and stays on. The only thing that Cloud Cam has over the Nest is the annual cost. Nest cost $100 on the first camera and $50 on every additional camera. Cost is even more for the best plan. I’ll probably return them and try Ring’s security alarm system and cameras.

Home/Away needs GPS always on

I don’t get why Home/Away setting must always turn on location? Can’t it just run at background? We love the quality of the camera, hopefully some improvements on the app

App okay, battery life terrible

LukeSky11

Installed app and it works as expected with both live mode and viewing past clips. Also would like the feature to invert the camera so it could be mounted on ceiling. However, battery life on my 6S Plus has plummeted since installing the app. When viewing the Battery tab in Settings, the Cloud Cam app has taken up 38% of my battery with only 6 minutes of background activity and no foreground activity. Wife has reported similar behavior on iPhone 7.

Good app

It’s a good app, but they are missing a feature. You cannot zoom in on recordings but you can only zoom in on live view. I hope there is a possibility that this can be added in the future.

Need better features like schedule to enable/disable the cam

roycheung1120

Over quality of the cam is good, but the app is lack of features To make the cam more practical like schedule to turn on and off the cam for recording or monitoring, also additional notification for a second email/app for another family members in the account. Instead of person detection, should add face detection to avoid sending notifications when it detects household members

Getting better

Was a two star until latest update that let you turn off audio. Now the only thing left that annoys me is the inability to turn off the LED. I use it as a baby monitor and the bright blinking light literally lights up my kids room. If amazon updates this feature I will revise to a 5 star.

Does not record

Knightnord

One day it simply stopped recording. I have tried numerous factory resets and deregistrations. It simply no longer will record anything. I can look at live video but that's not why I bought it As an Amazon fan I am disappointed in the help articles online that do not work and they do not provide a phone number to call to get this working. It leaves me with no choice but to return.

Good start

The Cloud Cam is off to a good start, but it’s still missing some key features that it’s competitors have offered for years. Presently the Cloud Cam only shows you recordings where activity has been detected. It doesn’t offer a DVR like Nest and you can’t tell it to only watch for activity in certain zones (like a doorway or window). Overall it’s neat, but Amazon has a lot of work to do to catch-up to the completion.
