Scammed out of $952.00 for 2 nights by VRBO

I am shocked that VRBO is still in business. My family and I were completely scammed out of almost $1000 for a 2 night stay, which is a huge amount of money to me as a teacher. The host completely misrepresented their property. We couldn’t even stay at the property it was so bad. My husband couldn’t even fit on the largest bed which the host said was a queen size, the property was dirty, stank like unkempt dogs, and had storm damage to the property making the dock and neighboring docks unusable. After spending a huge amount of time going through VRBO’s “complaint process,” we never got any of our money back. The host took their property off VRBO after our stay, so we were unable to add a review to the property.

This app does nothing to help if your not booking. Their service reps don’t care. VBRO way overpriced on their commissions, it’s sickening.

Needs an age filter

I hate scrolling through all these condos, apts, etc, just to not meet the age restriction. I wish there was just a filter for that so it makes searching so much easier.

Get a hotel instead.

We were headed to San Diego and purchased the trip protection. (Which I recommend everyone do.) contacted the owner everything was planned accordingly with friends meeting us there from other areas and states. Then the COVID hit our friends and my kids where no feeling well. So we canceled everything. Flights which we were refunded, rental car which we were refunded, but with VRBO if you cancel within 14 days or less they have your money. Even the cleaning fee. I tried to reschedule but the owner would not allow us. I get it this is your money maker property. But if the property was not used why pay for something not used. We are jumping on brought hoops right now with the insurance trip protection. This was my first and last time using VRBO. If your traveling with little kids I would suggest a hotel who allows cancellations where you would get your money back. My family and friends are all well. It’s just my hard earned money that was taken from us. Hope this helps if you plan on using VRBO.
