Great App, if You are OK with Subscriptions

Love the app. Works great and I love the look and feel of it. I bought it—and I’m a pretty cheap guy—and felt it was easily worth the cost. So like everyone else that had paid for the app, I was bummed the move to a subscription meant I have to either pay a subscription or lose the use of my app (I know the version I paid for is still there, it’s still on my iPad and phone, for that matter, but it won’t be updated, which means in a fairly short time it will be unusable). I’ve chosen, for the time being, to try out some other apps (two of which I paid for, and both of which are pretty good and aren’t subscription based, yet). I was thankful for the generous trial of the subscription version of the app, which was given since I bought fairly recently, but rather than sink more effort into an app I probably won’t use, I’ll check around some more. I understand the logic behind the subscription model, and for those who are okay with that, I recommend the app. Continue improving and maybe offer a “lifetime” subscription (wait, that would be buying it). Maybe I’ll be back later.
A simple Elegant app at a great price

When this app first switched to subscription I was a little concerned. I’d seen a few apps do this in the past and for some reason, in my experience, apps that did this were never the same. But to my delight and surprise this is not the case with Ulysses. They not only picked a great price for a writer but seem to respond quickly to many issues. If this kind of support keeps up I will be a subscriber for a long time to come. Also, Thanks for keeping the old app going. Might I suggest letting it live on as a Local only (no cloud without subscription) version? Just a thought.

Switching a paid premium app to a subscription service, after people have bought it, is highway robbery. This 1-star review isn't changing until you let people who bought your app continue to use what they paid for.

I really wrote app reviews. But I’ve had so much joy using Ulysses I have to say something. Ulysses is simple, easy to use, and most importantly, it helps me to getting words from my brain to my trusted writing system. I love the cross platform nature of the tool. I can capture an idea on my iPhone (text or photo of something), send it to Ulysses, and write more about it later on my Mac. I love that!

This is the only review I have written. For anything. Ever. This app is fundamental on the daily: it’s got amazing engineering (in the sense that there aren’t so many bells and whistles it defeats its own purpose), regular updates, with a stream of insightful and meaningful customer communication. This makes writing so easy for me. I love it. If you’re hating, you just aren’t getting it... Just like writing, this app is stuck on pure progress. Thank you.

Subscription model for a simple text app? Give us a break. lol This is just another greedy company trying to make a buck on a simple common idea, and a common app. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT, NOW THAT THEY’VE SWITCHED TO THE SOULLESS GREED MODEL. These developers have no shame or integrity. Get out of here with this. $4.99 a month to type in a TEXT app?!? Folks, it’s just not worth the money. Just use Apple’s Notes for free, or Scrivener. These guys are just raking you over the coals for a cash grab.
