Essential to my life

Ulysses is my favorite app. It organizes my writing life so well, and makes it easy for me to get my writing out to the various apps which I need to use for various jobs. Writing in clean markdown is so wonderful, and being able to write on the go on any device has been wonderful. Ulysses on a 12.9” iPad Pro is ideal for any kind of travel, from airplane flights to coffee shops.

Seems like an extremely good app but why not just pay 15$ out of the gate for the app and then get writing. You shouldn’t have to pay 40$ a year for an app.

I’m having a problem. The arrow to make sheet full screens there, I tap it, I get full screen then it disappears, and I can only get it back by rebooting my iPad. How to fix?

Why even pretend to be a free app? Not only does the app not function at all without paying - everything is rendered read-only and editing or creating documents requires an upgrade - but it's a SUBSCRIPTION service. They don't host your documents on their own servers or anything like that, it all goes into iCloud, as they say, but they still think they can get away with a monthly/yearly subscription model for a text editor. Just charge me like $10 flat fee and don't be scummy and try to pretend on your product page that there's no payment involved. Tired of apps pulling this, but this is just one of the most egregious examples I've ever seen.

Not syncing across devices...

Dear developers at Ulysses, I keep running into an issue with the sync every day. I type something on my iPhone, switch to my iPad a little later and type some more there and I end up with a message saying there was a problem syncing. Everything is fine with my iCloud connectivity. All other apps sync. It’s purely a Ulysses issue. Sync needs to just work, or your app is not worth paying for. Obviously, if I have to manually keep my text synchronized I don’t need to pay you a subscription fee... Looking on the Web, you have been having sync issues for years. I think at this point I would like to get a refund of the subscription fee I paid you, please. Thank you.

I am writing on again off again, it’s how I write so I use this app infrequently. I bought it a while ago and used it fairly heavily at first then put it down for a while, I recently got some new ideas and opened it up to start writing again and now they want a monthly subscription! Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve already paid for this and I paid for it because I preferred it over any other writing apps I’ve tried but now they are getting greedy and want more money for no new services. This wouldn’t be a terribly complicated app to write either so I see zero justification for asking for a subscription. Regardless if that’s how they want to do things now the people that paid for the app originally should have been grandfathered in. Zero stars, I can’t use the app anymore and now Ive lost my creative ambition to write for the night.
