Had an issue with the app where a customer canceled the project right after they sent out the lead try to respond and the only option I had was to decline I could see if I took a long time to respond but my response time was within 30 minutes and it was late at night I am still being charged for the lead and it’s not even my fault I have been using them for two years now.

As it says in the header. I was awesome to every single custeomer. Responded on average in 30 minutes tops. Had 25 all top 5 star reviews in just two months and more were coming in when suddenly out of no where with no explanation I was deactivated. Come to find out a customer made a complaint that had nothing to do with just that she had hired a former employee of mine and mentioned my company. That guy I hired had ripped her off. Pathetic. Don’t waste your time here. I lost all my leads I paid for. All my hard earned reviews. And on top of that they took money out of my account and told me that I used it up. Not true at all it was a withdrawal 2 days prior. I’m going ont he consumer app and warning customers be carful of giving bad reviews if they blame thumbtack. They also deleted her account and told her she can never be a client. This is Voss&Co LLC and you owe me more than an explanation. I hope there’s a class action lawsuit on these guys in the works. I want my account reinstated.

Scammmmmmmmmmmmmmm exactly like home advisor. This is a Chinese run business that takes American’s Hard earned money. They have no real use of helping you run a profitable business. Every person that is suppose to help you cannot understand you or communicates through a monotone foreigner/ computer type of way. Spend your money google ads instead.

Please don’t chat with professionals unless you have done your research and is 100% sure you want to book with them or their business. This company be ripping businesses off. They charge businesses $10 every time a person contacts them through the app. If the person isn’t serious, they just lost $10. It adds up super quick. Imagine offering a service for $100 dollars and spending $100 just to get 1 client. I first learned of the app through google. Google doesn’t charge businesses $10 every time a person clicks on their website or download their app. I reached out to about 4 businesses regarding the service I needed. Eventually, I changed my mind. I no longer wanted the service done. This had nothing to do with the companies I contacted. Once, I learned how the app works on the other end, I felt bad. Imagine how many customers just like me reach out to companies on a daily basis. This is blasphemy!

This app is great for customers but it leaves the service provider wide open to no shows and still incur the charge for leads. I stopped counting the no shows. My last booking I went to I literally went to the location at the agreed time for a photoshoot and there was another photographer on site. I tried calling and messaging and no response. There need to be a way to secure the bookings because hitting “Job Hired” does not commit the client.

You guys have to make some changes and how the app operates, why we have to be charged just because a possible client is contacting us, I understand if we click to see the client’s information and contact them, then we should be charged when thumbtack revealed the client’s information is just expensive that way so thumbtack gets the money for 3 or 4 pros ??? Is absolutely absolutely insane…. Also the costumer service don’t even respond to your calls…. Wasting of money and time

Thumbtack used to be great and fair for pros. Unfortunately, as usual, it all went downhill. Their method of automatically charging for leads is insane. Example: I got charged nearly $40 for a photography lead not only on a date I am unavailable for, but the customers budget was half what my listed quote would be. I started using Thumbtack in 2017. Back then, you only paid for leads that you chose, and the prices were also much lower than they are now. The system was great, I could check the date, scope, and budget of a job as well as the lead price before deciding if I wanted the lead or not. Over the last couple of years, I didn’t really use Thumbtack at all, seeing as the pandemic made wedding photography a lot tougher. But I recently decided to try it again, and absolutely hate the changes they have made. Now, while they do put some jobs in the “Opportunities” tab this way, the main way is to blindly charge the pro before they see any of those details. Furthermore, they penalize you if you don’t pay them weekly for leads by eliminating you from customers search results. If they go back to the old system, I’ll consider using them again, but as it stands it seems like a blatant rip off to small business owners.
