Won’t take down reviews after issue resolved

voiceofreasontoday

Homeowner lied and made a bunch of slanderous marks in a review, we resolved the issue but thumbtack would not take the review down. I was enjoying getting the leads until this very faulty process has now made the app useless, canceling my service.

Customers are not seeing prices for jobs clearly enough

Anthony5555555

As a pro submitting a quote on a job via thumbtack you have to be aware that you may just be burning the money on the lead because the system in place by Thumbtack does not make the quote price centered enough for customers to see. The issue is that customers are not seeing quotes clear enough and are replying to quotes asking how much the service or job would cost - even after you’ve input it when submitting the quote. In other words, unless you also include the price total for services or job in the description to the customer (and even then sometimes) you may as well be tossing the money to the wind. It almost feels as if it is done on purpose by Thumbtack for their bottom line (they get paid when a customer replies to your quote regardless if you get the job or not). I felt the need to write this because the cost of some of these leads are not cheap: I’ve seen lead costs of $70 on jobs that would have to be quoted at $120 to be reasonable for the customers but also competitive. This is counterproductive to both professionals and customers on the platform because as someone who may now know better, I will not respond to jobs with high lead costs, especially ones completely disproportionate to the job total, as described above. Thus leaving the customer with no one to help them.

The worse experience ever

Dina Voronina

I have been trying to use the service for about a year. The potential customers were flaky and sometimes dangerous. I have received a spam message, paid for it as for an inquiry and never had a refund. It’s impossible to reach a customer service as well

Tired of Fake leads

hsj fokfdy

As a pro I’m tired of all these fake Leeds thumbtack charging us for every single lead we as a pro don’t even get 5% of those leads reason because thumbtack is selling one lead in the same ZIP Code to 5 to 6 different pros tired of that kind of process we do Request refund thumbtack is not not even responding and there’s no straight phone number so we can and then we can call and share our problems with it So far I don’t have a good experience with attempted charging me for 10 leads only getting one

SCAMS!!!!!

emilygcolon

I though this app should be different than Home Advisor but it is the same. Some people choose you and they just want a “quote” but you still have to pay for the lead and I remember I paid like 74$ just for a lead. Some of them don’t respond and you still have to pay... to me you will loose money. Don’t waste your time. Angies list, Home advisor and this app are scam.

Straight Garbage

Mr. Snicker

As a licensed Contractor, this app is a scam & the leads are BS people just window shopping for quotes & you get charged, even if they don’t respond. I requested a refund, because I was charged for a direct lead even though I rejected. Their prices are absurd & the only one making money, is thumbtack. If you work in construction/ licensed contractor, then stay away from this app; it’s legal fraud.

Absurd charges

CashBobby

I would like a refund on all the charges that were incurred. I did not know I would be charged so much. There should be a heads up before charging me all those fees. I had customers reply, but not answer my question, and somehow I still get charged for a “lead” that did not lead anywhere. Give me my refund now!!!!

Extremely expensive

Mrfernanz

Sometimes they charge you $20 to apply for a gif that is under $120 and you can even not get that gig! Great way to loose money

I do not recommend

Let me preface this review with my line of work. I am a personal trainer and getting business is already difficult: my services are a hard sell and my industry is saturated with other professionals like me. But I manage just fine, even during Covid-19. So this review is speaking about what it's like to be a personal trainer procuring business on Thumbtack. I'll start with the positives first. I love thumbtack's customer service. They are super helpful, explicit with directions and explaining their choices made. They will even coach you over the phone in how to get more leads, optimize your profile and get you more business. That's about where the positives end. I am a personal trainer and I have been in the industry for over 12 years. I have procured a lot of business from yelp, google ads and thumbtack. The clients I received from the former two are reliable, courteous and considerate. I have had at least 80% 6 month retention in my customers from my website, yelp and google inquiries. They respect my price point, too. Customers from thumbtack, however, are super flaky, penny-pinching, inconsiderate and disrespectful. I don't know what it is about Thumbtack that draws this kind of customer, but they are the absolute worst customers. These customers will fall off the face of the Earth after 4 sessions without any word from them as to why. No explanation, just gone. Or the TT customer will coincidentally run into financing problems and need to drop off after a few sessions and a lot of late minute cancellations. This will be after I have devised a program, meal plans, discounted my rates and accommodated them on my schedule and shifted my appointments around. These customers are THE ABSOLUTE WORST! Then there are the opportunities that you get on Thumbtack. You get charged for leads even if they don't match your criteria or even respond to you after you've responded to the inquiry. I will even send out quotes to opportunities, be charged and then ghosted and never responded to. I'd say 90% the quotes never even get read. I am absolutely convinced that these "leads" and "opportunities" are fake. Fabricated by the thumbtack staff to give the false sense of potential business so they can charge you for the lead. It's actually quite brilliant, if you think about it. Unscrupulous but brilliant. If you're a carpenter, chef, handyman, Thumbtack sounds like it can work well for you. If you're a personal trainer, though, I strongly advise using different avenues.

Get messages, pay, and dont make money

Ive tried this app for over a year already. I have my prices listed. I get messages from possible leads and ask for a lower price, how is this bad? I lose about $15 everytime i message a possible client. Cost for POSSIBLE leads are too expensive. Not worth the investment unless you are in the main page.
