Still no iPhone 6 display support

Sultan®

iPhone 6 has been out for coming up to two years. Still no iPhone 6 display support? This is what's stopping me from paying... If next update still doesn't support these displays. I'm deleting this app. It hurts my eyes on a 6S Plus!!!

New pear experience

Rgasurfer

New update to the Pear app is fantastic. The recommendations on workouts, the quality of the coaching and the variety of experiences Pear offers is amazing. I feel like I have a real personal trainer in just about every category I can think of. Well done!

Lost data

Lost run

This app overall is great, would give it 4.5 stars if the problem I dealt with were fixed. The the fact that I have to hit save workout after I hit stop is pointless and as resulted in many unsaved workouts.

Please fix

D706

Since most recent update App keeps crashing when Bluetooth is turned on...please fix

Soulless app

JoachimScholz

I will not subscribe to this app after my free trial expires. The exercises are fine, but poorly organized. Lots of doubles, it's difficult to find a previously completed workout again. The exercises are sometimes very poorly explained. And there are no visual cues available while doing the exercise.

Uses Series 2 GPS

Bobv190

Cool app and the first that I know of that uses the integrated GPS of the Series 2. Worked well on a test run .. audio feedback worked well. Nice effort.

Close but needs some things.

PEAR Sports Apple Watch app - it is very promising, but here are things I would change: 1 - When you start the app, it asks if you want to run on iPhone, or Apple Watch only. If you select iPhone, it tells you to start the app on your iPhone. It does this *every* time, even for experienced users who know to start the app on their iPhone if they want it on their iPhone. Should be a preference to never ask this. 2 - Every time, it asks if you want to pair with Bluetooth audio. I never want to do that. But every time I have to press “continue without audio.” Should be a preference to never ask this. 3 - Every time it asks me if want to transfer a workout from my phone. I never want to to do this, but yet I have to click on “Tracking only.” Every time I use the app. Should be a preference to never ask about workouts. When the app is running, the readouts are on the small side because it has a 4-line display. One of these lines is calories. I have never wanted to see calories while I run or ride, so it would be nice to have a way to make it a 3-line display, or to replace calories with something actually important, like heart-rate. The only way to see heart-rate is to slide to another screen. In the iPhone app, the settings screen has something that says “Partners.” I never though to click on this to turn on Strava. Perhaps it should be named “Connect to Partners.” The app for some reason uploads Cycling to Strava as runs and also shows pace instead of MPH. But it also compares your cycling effors to runners. The app logs in Apple Workouts as “PEAR Sports” rather than what the activity is. For example, Strava uploads to Apple Workouts as “Outdoor Run” or “Outdoor Cycle.” In fact, even if you click on the activity, there is no way to know if it was a run or a cycle except perhaps by your average speed. It is enough to see the blue logo to know that it is a PEAR Sports activity - no need to waste valuable information space in that subject line with saying this is PEAR Sports. The iPhone app has too much going on. The readouts are super-imposed over a photograph of runners. Too busy looking. The app tells me to “enjoy the rest of my day.” Come on. This is an app, not my friend. Personal comments from an app are meaningless.

Great for Apple Watch Series 2, bad for Strava

Shutterchase

This app is one of the few that can be a standalone GPS tracker on the new Apple Watch. It seems to be accurate, but has consistently sent incorrect data to Strava. I use Strava all the time and this bad sync is almost a deal breaker for me. The only reason I still use this app, is because it is the only app currently that utilizes the Apple Watch's GPS.

Buggy

Paying for Spotify

I'm interested in 80/20 training, but the app is buggy as others have reported. I exchanged a few emails with their support. They were responsive, so the two stars for that. The lack of fully integrated two-way data sharing between other well established apps, like Strava for example, is a deal breaker for me. If you only intend to run (or do the other Pear workouts like abs or something) and can get the hrm to reliably communicate (I had problems), and only intend to use the Pear app, then this may be great for you. I will probably revisit Pear a few updates down the line. I didn't buy an Apple Watch to do beta testing.

Apple Watch app can't do voiceover coaching with music

Inocen1

I'm impressed that Pear lets you download your chosen workout to the Apple Watch so the Apple Watch can be used as a stand alone device. This is a big step forward, however the problem is that no one wants to JUST listen to the coaching cues while running or doing other exercises. You want to listen to music too. Currently, if you upload a music playlist to your phone, you can't start the pear coach, then start the playlist. It's one or the other. You can't start the playlist and then the pear coach either as the pear app on the Apple Watch will completely stop the music you had playing. Therefore, you have to run in silence with the pear coach or just have music with no coaching. Neither setup really makes this usable in real world conditions. Oddly, I know that voice over IS possible because even the Nike+ Running Apple Watch app can do it. They even have a voice over toggle for it. Pear is a far superior app, but without this key feature it's 1 star for me. Add voiceover and I'd switch this to 5 star in a heartbeat. Finally, I'd like to add that Pear actually called me to let me know that they were working on fixing this issue. That was kind of them and I really look forward to this being fixed!
