Only real option, but could use some improvements

Being able to sync my Zotero library on to my iPad and annotating the PDFs is something I’ve used extensively over the years. No other app has been able to accomplish this, to my knowledge. That said, PaperShip isn’t perfect. Mainly: * While you can search for literature in the app, I have never been able to add it to my library successfully. It usually just silently fails. I still have to add items to my Zotero library on my regular computer, then sync them to the iPad. Please, please fix this. It’s a hassle and it would be amazing to do everything directly from the iPad. * Minor feature suggestion: a built-in “dark”/inverted mode for PDFs would be nice. You can use the iPad OS smart invert to do this, but having it in the app would be nice.

Pretty disappointing with potential

When Mendeley discontinued their iPhone/iPad app, I was disappointed but happy to find there was an alternative. This app has potential but needs work. I want to be able to easily sync with my folders as they are on my Mendeley desktop app. It will not do that. I created a folder on my Desktop app and it won’t sow up on PaperShip. The files are also in a different place—the inbox. It does not sync well with Mendeley. After reading and highlighting an article, I could not see any of this in Mendeley. This is really a disappointing waste of time. But it has potential if the want to develop it. I’ll leave it on my iPad for a while to see if they update it enough to make it worth using. Right now, it is not.

No longer works well with Apple Pencil

As of the latest update, when in Highlighter mode, trying to scroll with your fingers and using the Apple Pencil to annotate no longer works. When you touch the screen to scroll, it will create an unwanted highlight. This now requires you to enter and exit annotation mode, which defeats the purpose of the Apple Pencil for highlighting. Will need this to be fixed in order to resume using this app.

The app is always syncing and I've never been able to open/use it. This may be a Mendeley-based issue because their software is always having issues.

I can’t tell you how glad I am that this app seems to be maintained again. As far as I can see, it’s the only one that allows handwritten annotations of PDFs and automatically syncs them with Mendeley. It’s truly wonderful to finally have my notes in one place.

Just downloaded the app and am syncing with Mendeley without a problem. My annotations (cost 9.99) don’t sync. When trying to contact technical support it turned out the site doesn’t exist. Also the link to support on the Apple App Store doesn’t work. If this worked i would give a 5 star rating.

Zotero sync

I’m a graduate student and use Zotero to stay organized. This app allows me to read, highlight, and annotate articles on my iPad and have that sync on my computer. It’s not perfect but with the annotation pack it does everything I need. Also like being able to download articles for offline reading when I’m at the cabin or anywhere else with spotty internet.

Downloaded and won’t open

I downloaded this app and it’s been stuck on the loading page with the message “updating groups.” There’s no info on what this means and the most recent activity on zotero’s help page was from 2016! It looks like this app may have been abandoned, which is too bad because it would’ve been incredibly useful.

Best annotation app on the store

First off, I’m so excited to report that unlocking annotations is a one time fee. I’ve gotten so used to subscriptions that I was so happy to read this. In addition. The app sync great with my mendeley library and the annotations work wonderfully. I was so worried to see mendeley pulled their app but now I see why - people where probably using this instead!
