In short, the app doesn’t work. I’ve tried five times to do the initial sync. It hangs at the last 50 items and then crashes (every time). Then I looked at the update log to see when I might expect a fix. Last update? 2 years ago! This is pretty clearly a zombie app.

While integration with Mendeley works great, I feel misled by the advertised annotation features of this app. They are clunky and awkward, seeming to be a crude port of a mouse-and-keyboard interface. I was hoping for an annotation app that would allow for freehand annotations with ApplePencil; this is not that app. Freehand annotations are “supported” but are nearly unusable. For one, there is no way to change the pen thickness, and the default is too thick for handwriting. This was conceived for use circling passages with a finger. Second, it ignores the existence of Apple Pencil, when it seems like the perfect use-case. Any touch while using the pencil will create a mark, and attempting to exit annotation mode makes further stray marks. In short, I wasted my money on this app.

Two stars because the app served me well for 2 years. No longer updated and thus stopped syncing with zotero for me. RIP!

Restore annotation purchase

I paid for the annotations and now they don’t work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times without success. I have also reached out to their support twice in the past 3 to 4 wks and have yet to get a response. Great app, better if it would work as advertised and if they would provide support. Hoping that this 1 star review gets someone’s attention so I can get my annotation package back!

Fantastic App; Now Broken and No Longer Supported

I have not found a better app for syncing PDFs with Zotero, annotating them, and having full access to their citations. However, Papership has not received an update in over two years, and it appears the developers have abandoned this $10 platform. Running the app now results in repeated random crashes and the support center on Shazino’s website is completely unresponsive. It’s really a shame as I’ve always held Papership in high regard, I used it near daily and recommended it whenever I had the chance. It’s incredibly disappointing that an app of this quality could have such poor support.

Pdf annotation is a scam

I got this app to be able to view and annotate my mendeley library on my ipad. I was able to sync my mendeley library and view pdfs. But after I purchased the pdf annotation bundle (for the steep price of $9.99 I might add), the annotation button no longer does ANYTHING (it used to just prompt me to buy the annotation part of the app). I have tried contacting the developer multiple times and they have not responded. What a scam. I also can’t just send the pdf to another app like notability because I have multiple pdfs associated with some references but it will never export both or the one that I want

The app doesn’t work with my apple pen. I cant highlight or annotate any PDFs. I sent an email to PaperShip but never got a response.

I bought this app because one of my colleagues recommended this app for reading literatures and taking notes. While this app represents what I really wanted for my iPad (sync with Mendeley, easy import and export to a windows computer, etc), the features do not work on my iPad pro 3rd gen. More specifically, the annotation button does not do anything even after buying it.. Reading through the reviews, I can tell that many other customers are facing the same issue. I emailed the support with this issue last week, but they haven’t replied back yet. Overall, PaperShip is an app with a lot of potential, but lack of customer supports and updates. I hope they can fix this issue, so that my $10 doesn’t go to waste.

Annotations not working in pro

I tried for an hour to purchase the annotation pack. I was finally charged, and now the button is disabled. Terrible. Redownloading now.
