Update: There have been several app and firmware updates and we still do not have the ability to access a connected drive through this app as we did with the Genie App. Please add this functionality to the Nighthawk App!!! Been waiting for this since the App was introduced. =================================== Original Rating I was really impressed when I used the Netgear Genie App. When I upgrade to the nighthawk router it was great and allowed access to everything including my readyshare device and I was able to stream my movies right from the app. Since the release of this Nighthawk app the genie app No longer works and the nighthawk app does not allow access to the readyshare drive. PLEASE add this functionality to this new app otherwise allow us to access the Genie app again.
When are router firmware updates going to work?

I have a R7000 and is set for auto updates but it never updates. I check the app regularly to see if there are updates it never says there are any. Finally I went to the website I was 3 versions behind! Also very disappointed you removed Apple Time Machine as I bought this router because it supported it. I know I can go back but the version that last supported this had major issues and would drop offline several times a day.

Not sure if it’s the app or the router, but one of them is really slow to respond to a lot of things. I don’t think it really matters which it is since they are a package deal.

I have always purchased The best Netgear products. This past year I purchased their highest offer of router and modem. I used this app to update the firmware. After using it twice I noticed the firmware version stayed the same. Checked netgear help, and sure enough 20 pages of the same issue. All you could do is RMA. no fix. After a month of calling, being disconnected and even being asked to pay $80 to troubleshoot a unit still under warranty someone finally submitted an RMA for me. I paid to expedite, then 2 days later out of nowhere I receive an email from netgear saying they cancelled the RMA. What happened to Netgear? This app... this company... shame. I’m looking to move to wifi6+ this year and MUST now find a new manufacturer. Very disappointed in this very laggy app and their hardware. If your firmware doesn’t update its not the app. It’s the router.

This is by far the most disappointing app/hardware combination I have ever seen. The router doesn’t update, the controls are poor at best. The app doesn’t allow login even after 2 reinstall/reboot procedures. I’ve had been through two attempts inputting new network information into every device in my house. Still no resolution to the problem. Net gear is no help, $200 on a WiFi router and I’m bothering them!!!!!

I bought some new Netgear stuff to replace my ISP rental box. I love these Netgear Nighthawk cable modems and WiFi routers. But this app is hot garbage. It was a nightmare to setup the router. I thought maybe 30 minutes at most to complete the setup. But it took me two hours because of this app. It wouldn’t connect to the router because it kept saying there was no internet and no matter what I did it would always say that. The router was working with internet. Since I could see all three bands on my phone and my PC had internet the entire time. But the app somehow never detected it. So, I unplugged the router and model and tried again. Four. Times. All four had the same results. I thought “hey, this’ll be super easy cause it has an app to set it all up” Boy was I wrong lol I eventually got it to work by signing in and setting the router up through the website and not this app. It detected the internet after that but still wouldn’t get to the main screen. So I tried the setup option again. But it again, didn’t detect the internet. Then out of the blue just jumped to the main screen with my router finished with the setup. And now it won’t sign me in to let me view my router. This is the first app I’ve used that I just don’t understand what is going on in its process of things. And the first app I’ve left a review for. Imma uninstall and reinstall it to see if that helps. But I have doubts

Super happy with this new Netgear Nighthawk router, but at $400 from BB we should be. But, with 6 phones, a gaming PC that gets heavy use, a Smart TV, two other PCs, two iPads, an Xbox & five lap tops... it gets lots of use. Just hope it doesn’t go Tango Uniform on us in 4 short years like the last one.
