I didn’t know a thermostat could be so hard to control. Every time I’m away it turns off and goes down to 49 degrees. I can’t wait to take it out and put something else in there so I don’t have to worry about my pipes freezing in the winter when I’m not home

What’s the point of having a Smart Thermostat if it only operates like a regular thermostat. Says it’s connect on the nest itself but shows offline in the app for over 24 hours. Adding someone to have access/control of the nest requires two apps. (Google Home and the nest app) why can’t I just add people in the nest app???? Get it together google!

Every time the doorbell rings and we get a notification the application hangs and becomes unresponsive. This makes it impossible to use as intended. It works fine when randomly opening the application. Will be replacing with something more reliable soon.
Not working as well as it used to on many levels

8 February 21 Update - the home away feature still does not work like it used to. I’m changing my review to one star after talks with Nest not being able to fix the best and most important feature of this app. The app does not recognize when I’m home or away anymore. Therefore my Eco temps are not automatically turned on and I waste a lot of energy. The app constantly logs out and has trouble connecting to the “nest service”. I work from home so Wi-Fi is not the problem. Please fix this.
Nest Aware is NOT compatible with iOS!

Beware!! If you "upgrade" to Google's Nest Aware service, you will NOT be able to use Nest on your iPhone or iPad! The app works for about 30 seconds at a time before it crashes. This is due to Google streaming the video in a format not compatible with iOS devices. Your phone will become hot as it converts the feed "on the fly" which rapidly degrades battery and overloads the processor causing the app to crash. We had been using Nest for years and Google stepped in, bought the company, and is now ruining what was an awesome product. Used to use Nest as our crib cam, but now had to buy a video baby monitor because the Nest app became unusable. If you haven't upgraded to Nest Aware, the app works terrifically. It started crashing immediately after we upgraded the service. This is all over their forums and they have not addressed it for months--keeping in mind they have all the resources on the world, it is clear that addressing this is not a priority. Do not hold your breath for a fix

Had fir 5 years and regret it every season. Constant errors, costs more in professional trouble shooting services than a non smart thermostat. Completely overrated.
