Great hardware, terrible and useless mobile app.

Nest overall is incredible hardware, but their app is beyond terrible. Always takes an unreasonable amount of time to load. And even worse, is trying to navigate the most confusing UI for a mobile app. Trying to do anything feels like running a marathon only for it not to work. Good toys Terrible app Michael
Doesn’t communicate w/ furnace

Use another smart thermostat! Regret purchasing the Nest. It’s slow to communicate with the furnace. Takes awhile for it to turn on and turn off when we turn the temp down or up. Honestly, I think the Nest ruined our first furnace, we had to replace the furnace shortly after installing the nest. Within a week! How many others have had that happen to them?? Beware of the Nest!
Google spies on us

When I bought the nest thermostat I could have it operate in eco mode when I left the house with my phone. Now to be able to do that I must allow google to know my location. Another issue I have is that I must use 2 Apps to control all the functions and settings. If you are forcing me to use the google home app then at least make it the only app needed.
Horrible product

I have spent hours on the phone with their customer service to find a way that I can simply purchase their Nestaware product. I opened this account years ago on an old email that I no longer have access to. End result is it seems impossible to convert my account to a new email so I can get the privilege to pay Nest for an upgrade. Can’t reset it, re-register, start over. I’m not exaggerating about hours on the phone with numerous customer service people. It appears that my only option is to throw my Nest cameras in the trash and buy a new product.
Won’t pay attention to schedule

The Nest thermostat only occasionally pays attention to the temperature schedule set for it. Driving me crazy!

Terrible… I could not get it to work (don’t even bother with the Google help sites.. they are useless) I finally figured it out on my own. I set up another home wifi to get the thermostat to work. Don’t sell products you can’t support
Slow and unreliable

The app is slow. When the doorbell rings, the app will freeze and I’ll have to force close it to see who’s at the front door. Sometimes it still won’t come up for a minute or 2. It’s starting to miss a lot of people who come into the line of sight for the doorbell now as well. Many times I’d find a package delivered when I didn’t even get notified someone call on my doorstep
